Where to buy a 3 bottom plow?

Hey fellas,

Where are you guys getting your plows from these days? I'm looking for a 3 bottom 16" or possibly a 2 bottom 16" plow. We turn a lot of rough ground into garden production at various locations.

I've looked on Craigslist and haven't come up with anything decent. A lot of really old 1 or small 2 bottoms that aren't going to stand up to the punishment a 50hp MFWD tractor will throw at them. I've seen a small 2 bottom at Tractor Supply but it's a 14" and not very heavy.

Basically I need a Category 2 plow that isn't a piece of junk.

I found mine at an auction , an old ford self tripping . I paid $300 for it , bought a set of new points and have a great 3 bottom plow . It is going up for sale next summer as I don't need it any longer, but Maine is a long drive .

You could look for a Kverneland plow, the best there is.

Too bad you’re not in Idaho. All I ever see online are 3 and 4 bottom switch plows for sale.

I have one (4-16 with one removable bottom) I'd sell, it's one of the best in it's day, an Oliver brand.

So Craigslist is the preferable route then. I guess I’ll expand my search area into Neighboring states.

It could just be my area sucks for implements. I’ve found that to be the case on other used items as well.

When looking for farm equipment in Kansas, Craigslist was a gold mine. Eastern Tennessee not so much. I see a lot of junk that people are trying to sell as lawn ornaments

Look in the St. Louis and Southeast, MO area as well as the Carbondale area of Southern Illinois. It would be a full day drive round trip for deep Southern Illinois to your area but it isn't a horrible drive. If I happen so see one for sale I will send you a link. I think there are a few on Facebook Marketplace in Southern Illinois as well as Craigslist.

You might try the folks at Sweet Tractors in Kentucky. They offer free shipping up to 1000 miles on some of their implements.
