I am looking for a source of surplus IBCs is southeast Texas, particularly Houston. IBC=Intermediate Bulk Container usually in the 200-300 gallon capacity.

I want 2 or 3 for water storage to put together a small brush fire extinguisher setup.

Any ideas?

I just came from TSC. I was looking at box blades and I noticed some big containers. It looked like there might be some 300 gallon size. I don't know why surplus tanks needed? Maybe price? anyway they moght be around $400 but I could be off a lot since I wasn't pricing them. Today I was into blades, landscape rakes and box blades.

You could try contacting your local government, if brush fires are common in your area I'm sure they'd be interested in helping you find an affordable means to help control them. Of course, here in NJ they'd make you fill out all sorts of permits and then say the crimson tufted marmoset likes forest fires and you can't put them out...

I am looking for IBCs for 2 reasons:

They should be in the $100 or less range.

Most are configured to be handled with pallet forks.

I was thinking to put pumps and hose racks on one pallet and just set the IBCs close by with some sort of quick connect for the suction hose.

I got mine off ebay - they are pricey to ship, so many auctions are pick-up only. I got mine for $35 each, picked up. Set the distanced filter on the search for a reasonable distance to drive and pick them up. I used the following search paramaters: (330,275) gallon (tote, tank,IBC) -bike -cyl

Thanks. That will get me started on a possible productive search.

Call your janitorial supply houses.

Wish you were closer, it is the shipping that is the money on them.

Also just look around, here I know of several pawn shops with them there (which I cannot quite figure out how they got them)

Any Chemical manufacturers or distributors in your area? I thought there would be zillions.

Houston should just be crawling with them. I'm 2 hours North of you and the oil/gas industry here has them everywhere. That being said I can't hardly buy any either....
