I have a '62 Ford 2000 that I'm building / modifying a pickup snowplow for. Does anyone know where I should connect the pressure and return lines from the control valve? Thanks for the great site; I wish I would have found it sooner.

Welcome to TBN:D

I am not very good on the older stuff but will try to help...

Does your machine have a external pump with lines that go back toward the 3PH (3 point hitch)?

The pump is mounted on the right side of the engine and has a cast tube that comes out of the bottom of the pump (inlet and outlet) and bolts to the bottom front of the trans. The only possible outlets are on the top cover (right below the seat) and another way down on the right side under the running board. I've been told those are both pressure. Someone suggested drilling and tapping the fill cap for the return. Maybe tomorrow I can post pictures if I don't figure it out by then.

FOrd made a remote control kit that mounted on the lift cover under the seat. You can find them on Ebay and other places.

Go to this site and look at item number 56 on the illustration. This is the accessory plate you need to attach a hydraulic accessory. Scroll back/up to page 34/35 and the accessory plate is described.

Thats a little different than mine but pretty close. I'm pretty sure I can get pressure off the top of the plate (I'll check with a pressure gauge first) but it's the return line that has me wondering. Also, what size return line should I use? Thanks so much for the input so far.

You can remove the pipe plug in the small option cover on the hyd top cover and get pressure there by lifting the 3pt control AND chaining your 3pt lift arms to the axles.. run that pressure to your open center spool for your snowplow.. run the return line to the fill port.. just drill and tap / weld / braze the fill cap for a fitting with a hose barb..

You loose use o fthe 3pt this way.. but it's the cheap and easy method... any time 3pt lift control is up.. fluid is going to your snowplow valve. I have powered SA / trip dump loaders this way..

Another way is to get a sandwhich adapter plate.. slap it between the option cover and top cover.. it has a in / out port on it... run those to your open center power beyond capable spool valve for the snow plow.

And the best option.. also the most spendy.. is to find the top cover spool valve like JB said... they are plentiful..tisco makes a single and dual.. and there are plenty of leftover fomoco valves out there.. either single or dual will do you.. as you can use the single to power your existing valve if needed... this is the most common way to tap the 4gpm pump on the side of the engine..

This sounds like the best option for me. Where does one find one of these sandwich adapter plates?

I was going to go with what you suggested first (I bought the 3/8 pipe tap and all the fittings today) but didn't know I would lose the 3 point. I have a back blade I plan on using as well.

Well I bought the adapter plate and hooked everything up and it works like a charm. Now the only thing missing is snow. Thanks for the replies. One more question; if i decide to unhook the valve when i dismount the plow, do i plug the in/out ports on the sandwich adapter plate or do i need to keep the flow there?
