Where to purchase PT Fence posts

Ask the service desk clerk at TSC if they can search for any nearby stores for the larger diameter posts if you had not already done so.

I have bought from RAMM in the past. Good company to deal with. What type of fencing did you go with?

I guess that I am "jaded" when it comes to PT posts, lol! Southern States is ten minutes from me, an Amish supplier maybe 30 minutes and an actual treatment plant a bit over an hour away.

The heavier treatment concentrations like .80 and beyond are for applications like docks and wharfs. .40 posts are typical but .60 would be better.

I don't suppose Black Locust grows in your area? It's extremely rot resistant, and often ends up lasting longer than pressure treated wood. Farmers used to grow it for fence posts.

Be careful of the big box store posts. A few years back we bought a truckload (my F350 full) of treated posts from HD. They had really thick growth rings and deteriorated rather quickly.

Thanks for all the tips. I found a company that has 6" .80 treated posts. They are a little higher in price than TSC posts but double the retention and they have them in stock.

While shopping for these posts I discovered the internet doesn't know "everything". Searching for the lumber online was frustrating. My search turned up places that didn't carry the posts, didn't have them in the proper size or fencing companies that did not sell materials.

What I found is that some of the smaller stores just don't have the internet presence but had the product. The phone book beat the internet for once.

Purchasing fence posts turned out to be a pain in the ***. Went to a lumber yard that said they could get me .80 CCA posts. Great! Get there and he calls his supplier and turns out I have to order them in bundles and would end up with way too many.

So call around and find a company about an hour away that says they have .80 in stock. Say they have a bunch of them. Come get them. Yesterday morning I get up early to pick them up and get to the yard see a very small stack. Take out tape measure and they are just what I need. Except they are all .40. Salesman I spoke with the day before says "Oh, didn't realize that. Guess we don't have .80" Ask if they can get them he says "no".

The price was higher than TSC and local places but I needed to get the job done. So I paid more for and ended up with .40 and went an hour out of the way.
