Man, this is a weird winter. We don't get a whole lot of snow down here at a mile above sea level - usually the mountains get hammered all winter.
But I've moved more snow in the last 3 1/2 weeks than I did all of the past 2 winters. We've had just under 5 feet with 3 storms at my house, but with wind and melting in between storms, we only have around 2' on the ground in most places, except for the 3-4 foot drifts that are still scattered about. Storm #4 in as many weeks is rolling in again for late this week, and the latest I heard is the jet stream may keep this pattern up for us for the next 6-8 weeks. Even when it's not snowing, we have windy days that create ground blizzards, so after 2 of the storms, we've had to re-plow under blue skies. It's a little blustery again today - 30-40 mph sustained winds with gusts up to 80-90 mph. Looks like I'll be clearing snow again tonight.
We can't even get out to the snowmobile trails to run our sleddogs half the time with all the road closures and deep snow (sprint dogs like running on packed, groomed trails better than in deep snow). Gonna have to buy deep snow toboggan sleds and put away the sprint sleds if this keeps up.
Hope you guys out east start getting some snow, but you can't have any of ours, sorry, having too much fun.
