I'm thinking about a landscape rake for my BX23. I want to clean up the wooded area around my home. It's mostly leaves from years of neglect, but I wondered if a blade would work better? Thanks in advance for any thoughts!

I have both a blade and a rake. The blade scrapes a lot and can move a lot of dirt it does well. I do like my Landpride rake. It collects debris and doesn't carve the earth. So... if you are truly talking about lightweight stuff and aren't wanting to do much grading, I would vote for the rake. Disclaimer: I am no expert.

I recommnend a Landscape Rake. I bought mine from Everythingattachments.com, and it is a FINE implement.

However, you should consider alternative of a versatile Ratchet Rake, if you have bushes, shrubs, or small trees to remove. Ratchet Rakes collect and pile very well.

I think I'd go with the rake because you can dump the debris in rows or piles to be picked up with the FEL, grapple, or pitch fork and trailer. Maybe it depends on how much one is talking about. I've done it with a front blade on shoes that worked pretty good. But in a manicured area there is a lot of hand raking too. Being able to burn the piles in place also helps, if that is a possible.:2cents:

FYI,
I think they make a rear blade that you can add a rake too. Check that out.

I'd try the rake first. You can use the blade if the rake doesn't cut it but I bet a nickel you won't need it.

Well, reading the responses, obviously the answer is.... BOTH! Seriously... Blades are for scraping. If o want to collect debris, a rake d more applicable.

I would use a rake . I don't have one but have a grader blade and box blade . But for the job stated a rake .
I'm think I'm going to buy the everything attachment extreme heavy duty rake my self . Never had one but sure believe I want one .

I've had a rake, blade and Ratchetrake. Sold blade and rake and my number one small implement is the RatchetRake. It operates off your front bucket and will rake finer than the big rake and will do some leveling which the big rake won't do plus other jobs. It will level and clean down to ready for grass seeding point.
I recommend to "most" people to get a boxblade for extra weight, which you don't need with your BH, and the jobs the BB will do and a RatchetRake for the jobs it will do and can be attached to front bucket in one minute by yourself and removed in under one minute, by yourself.
