Which Attachments To Get, and LandPride Value?

Folks...

I just bought a used TC35D with a backhoe and FEL with teeth and a grapple, to be delivered on Friday with any luck <smile>... I need to buy some attachments with it, and have to call the dealer Tuesday to tell him what to include in the package (so it finances). So, need some advice...

First off... the only kind of attachments he sells is Land Pride. He is one of their biggest dealers in the entire Northeast. Says that the only New Holland attachments he typically sells are the FEL and BH, and that he finds the Land Pride stuff heavier and better quality.

Certainly, they are on the more expensive side than what I can get from places like Northern Tools (including freight). So, what I'm wondering is what you all think of LandPride... good quality? Good Value? The upside to getting them from the dealer is that they get thrown in on the financing, and right now, cash is limited.

I'm looking at the following.

1. 6' Rough Rotary Cutter (RCR1672) - $1180
2. Post Hole Digger w/9" Auger (PD15) - $725 or (PD25) - $845 (and with somewhat rocky soil, I'm inclined to go heavy duty... any advice here would be welcome)
3. 7' Rear Blade (RB2584 - 9 forward, 5 reverse positions 5/16 Moldboard) - $560
4. 7' Landscape Rake (LP1584 5 forward, 7 reverse positions) - $590
5. 6' Box Blade (Scraper) (BB1572 2 Welded Braces) - $625 or (BB2572 4x4 Tubing Main Frame) - $710

Also, I want to get a chain harrow (Multi-Use)... he has one from Delta that's all one piece, while the one from Loyal Roth (or others) has multiple pieces that hook together letting you do different things like raise with the front half and smooth with the back half, and more importantly, with 4' or 6' by 4' long, they would be easier to handle by one person. Also, what size should I be looking for? 8' or 12'? Will mostly be dragging the pastures to break up and spread manure and to dethatch and all that stuff... I think this one will get a LOT of use. They also make a 3 point lift for it (though it's a little pricey)... how valuable is it? How hard would it be to make one? Don't think it should be that hard or expensive to make.

Now, as for what I think I need and what I just want... I suspect that I'll just get the Rough Rotary Cutter, the Harrow, the PHD and the Box Blade (scraper), and then maybe get a cheaper Rear Blade separately since I think I'll get more HD use out of the Box Blade (scraper) than the Rear Blade... but what do I know <grin>... but here's what I have to do, so give me some advice...

I have some leveling and some ditching to do on the pasture to improve the drainage in the fields, though that's not as big an issue when we don't have the wettest year in history, and I'd either use the rear blade, or the box blade, or the rake to do some of this... what do you all recommend. Remember, I do have a backhoe for more serious ditching.

Secondly, I'll be doing a lot of fencing and clearing of land for more pasture, so the Auger is an important immediate purchase, and the clearing will use the rough mower to bush hog, as well as the bucket, grappler, and back hoe to clear out stumps and such.

Oh, and I have to dress and re-stone (gravel) the driveway (not a long one by most standards, but more than I cold do by hand!) and, so we can turn around, extend the stone portion into an L shape, into what was grass and what's now a horrendous mud pit! I'll be getting at least one large and possibly two large loads of gravel to spread, so is the blade or box blade or rake better for this? Some, like the existing driveway will be light recovering existing stone, but the L shaped portion will be laying down a LOT of stone to build it up and then level it off.

So, thoughts??? Thanks in advance!

Those Land Pride cutters are very robust. The price I paid for a 5' unit was almost twice what I'd expected to pay (was looking at King Kutter and Howse), but I am very pleased with the implement.

The prices seem about right for around here. Land pride in my opinion is like the dealer said rugged and resonably priced. I have 1560 finish mower and 1572 landscape rake,very happy with them, the howese stuff from northen tool, is a little light for the rocky northern soil around here. As for what to get 1st that only you know,you listed so much stuff, i could use more than i have but i chip away at iventorey,build some buy some, what i did was add as my projects demand. i'd rather wait than pay intrest on implements for 3-5yrs. I wont buy a hoe because 4-5000 to watch it sit after diging a shrub hole would kill me. Besides i can just grab one from work if i had to. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I have a Land Pride 15-48 finish mower that I use and abuse behind my Kubota B6100E. I am getting a Kubota L3130 soon and will probably trade my 15-48 for a 15-60 uint some time in the future. I recommend Land Pride. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

1. 6' Rough Rotary Cutter (RCR1672) - $1180---I have an 1572 bought new in 1994, looks like they reinforced the deck a bit better (looks more like the 25xx at the time), but appear to have weaker brackets up front and in back along with same old crappy tail wheel fork, they stress it so much to get that compound angle out of a 3" strip stock, mine cracked almost to the point of failure before I noticed it and welded it up, has been ok since and this was before I started abusing the cutter. The method of mounting gearbox to deck is also important. Mine popped up off the deck in one corner and forced the blades into the underside (when you see the old brushhogs at the auctions that go for $400 all have this same bit of character about them) added a piece of .25" on top been ok since. The latest boo-boo saw the splines stripped between the stump jumper and gearbox downshaft,
I'll be hot on the heels of this project around june 20th or so. It should be fine
if you dont hog for dollars.

3. 7' Rear Blade (RB2584 - 9 forward, 5 reverse positions 5/16 Moldboard) - $560
---never owned a back blade, gotten by with a box blade

4. 7' Landscape Rake (LP1584 5 forward, 7 reverse positions) - $590---have the 1994 8' version, looks the same, this is a good case for one of those telesoping legs up front to ease install/remove. The only problem I had with mine is the swiss cheese plate welded to the top of the rake itself got an elongated hole during a unrecommended manuever....the material thickness and/or space between holes should have been increased. Yes their is more leverage with an 8 footer but robust engineering discipline should have prevented this failure.

5. 6' Box Blade (Scraper) (BB1572 2 Welded Braces) - $625 or (BB2572 4x4 Tubing Main Frame) - $710--- I have a john deere model that is similar to the 2572 and would opt for the heavier, reason being its on my tractor most of the time and doubles as loader counterweight.

LandPride is top quality. The metallurgy and design are both excellent, but the paint job is below average. The 15 series is more than adequate for the mower and rake. The tines on the rake are tempered and the rake extends back behind the tractor further than any economy brand. The 25 series is heavy duty enough for the box blade and post hole digger. The 35 series is the way to go for the rear blade because it can also be tilted and offset. This is very handy for ditch and crown work. You might pay more for LandPride, but they are built to last. By the way, I just finished spreading 150 tons of #4 gravel on 600 feet of a driveway using the RB3584. The gravel was not tailgated well and some areas were 20 plus inches deep. Most of the time you were working at PTO speed and the #4's put severe resistance against the 3-point linkage and the RB3584. The RB3584 had enough weight to stay down if the top link was extended just right. Experimentation was the key.

Like the other mention.. land pride is good equipment.. but... I just think they are priced high... For instance.. I'd get a bushhog squealer before a landpride.. and similar money... on the rotary cutter.

I've been doing fine with my 'fleet' of KK equipment..

I'm very happy with my LandPride equipment. And it gets beat on hard dried out clay.
Two things:
1) Keep in mind when you get prices that alot of the dealers only keep the commerical models on the lot. I have to order if I want to go to the non-commercial models. Even though I have been talked up on everything because of the clay.
2) I wish I'd bought the wheel setup for my finish mower that looks like ATV tires. Sure, they need alot more maintenance than the solid rubber I bought. But that poor mower gets beat when the dry mid summer hits. And they sink alittle when it's mushy.

I have the PD25. It's worth the extra bucks in my opinion if for no other reason than the radial pin slip clutch. Don't have to carry around shear bolts and replace them if you hit a rock. That is a good price on that unit, I paid around $1050 for it with the same auger.
