Hello, I have a Kubota Mx5000dt. with Kubota Loader 852 and r-4 tires. Have been wanting/researching backhoes for several months... A Kubota dealer recomended bradco, and said they generally dont sell Kubota backhoes, because bradco is a really good hoe for less $$. Have decided on Bradco hoe... but they do not build a subframe nor will they for the Mx5000. Now options are 9 foot Kubota hoe with subframe for 8500 or 9 foot woods with subframe for 6500. I thought of buying a bradco 511 for 8100 and having local machine/weld shop build subframe (about $600) . My wife said I should look at New Holland tractors, got quote for Tn 55(4wd) with 32 loader, r-4 tires option for 16.9 gpm hydraulic pump and Bradco 611 ($35,200) plus tax. I like this option /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif but dont know about selling Mx (I really like the tractor I have) and dont like coming up with extra $$$ to get into new note. Any comments or suggestions appreciated. Any owners of the above mention backhoes please give likes/dislikes. My tractor has 9.2 gpm hydraulic out put, but both the woods and kubota have 9 gpm pto pumps.

Pat,
If you like the Bradco hoe, I would just go ahead and get it. The MX is a utility class tractor not a compact, you don't really have to have or need a sub-frame on that tractor.

I never got the straight story on Kubota's new 9' subframe
mount backhoe. At one point the specs advertised it as
less able compared to the old 3PT mount 9' hoe. I also was
told the new hoe did not come with it's own hydraulic pump.
At the time I was thinking of a L4300 which has a rather
modest flow main hydraulic pump. That was a month or
so after it was introduced, the story may have settled by
now.

I believe I have a Bradco 511 on my L48. However it is
supplied by a separate 7.3GPM pump for the swing cylinders
in addition to the 12.7GPH main hydraulic pump for boom/dip/
bucket/stabilizer cylinders. Such an arrangement should be
possible via main + PTO pump as well.

Just curious how you plan to use the hoe. The MX isn't the machine I would think of for commercial backhoe work, though it has enough power, and I would think any of the above mentioned hoes would do fine for home or farm.

Mark, I do not intend to do commercial work, maybe an occassional small job here and there. I need to dig up about 10-15 sweet gum trees mostly about 12" - 18" diameter. Also need to build a road about 900 feet long, will dig ditches on both sides, clean out and reslope my ditch in front of house (about 250 feet) need to run water lines about 400 feet , replace my old septic system, dig footings for a new shop/outdoor kitchen/ tractor and implement storage. Then in a few years will try to tackle an inground swimming pool. That is one of the reasons I want the biggest reach/power backhoes that I can get/afford. Others have said a compact tlb is not the job for a pool, but I have a hard head. I'm just not 100% sure about having a machine/ weld shop build a subframe even though I have copies of Bradco subframe for similar tractor, and kubota and woods subframes for the Mx all on drawings/installation instructions. I definitely don't want to do something to damage the Mx
