which brand is easy to find parts/fix/maintain?

I bought a e2004 about 3 weeks ago it's realy nice and now i'm looking to buy another unit. I wanted to buy a yanmar but they looked cheaply built. Does anyone know which brand is easiest to find parts is not very likely to need repair or heaviest built? i've heard by many people hinomoto's are the toughiest..??

I wouldn't say that Yanmar are cheaply built. All the brands look about the same but have individual strengths and weaknesses. I have had a few Hinomoto's that were like Cadillacs. Of course when you mounted a loader on them the front axles broke. Well the teeth on the gears inside the front axle. The later model Hino's are real pleasure to drive as are the Yanmars. I would look at parts availability and serviceability as buying points. All of these Japanese compacts are tough as nails.

I agree with Brent. All of the Japanese tractors are overbuilt for their size. You can talk to a dozen people and they will all have different opinions as to their favorite. However at the present time I believe parts are easier to get for Yanmars. There again if it doesn't break down, it doesn't need parts.

I would have to agree. The yanmars seem pretty tough as far as the major components go. I don't count things like lift arms and such as with any linkage components there is the posibility of wear/breakage.. especially when using ground engaging implimints.

The one problem I have seen with asian tractors in general.. is limited operator area for us 'Mericans... And that is just a minor issue.

My little 1700 is tough as nails and strong.. when i built my house a few years ago, the contractor left me quite a few yards of dirt to distribute where I wanted it.. and i moved every bit of it with that yannie and a rear scoop... hours at a time just scooping, traveling, and dumping repetively.. took weeks to move that dirt.. tractor never hiccoped once. ( Did have the adjustable lift link give out at the ball joint.. but it was already on its last leg anyway, after I bent it with the box blade a year before and had to use a torch and pipe to bend it true... so I don't count that one.. ).

For absolute strength I vote for SD model Shibauras. None of the other brands can even come close. Put an SD1500D against a YM1500D and it is almost funny. SL, SP and P models are a different story...

Is "not even close" a relative term? I was just looking at the specs and since the weights are near the same, where are the differences in build and toughness. I'm not asking to start a war, my dad's looking for a tractor later and I'm just getting educated. I'm not brand loyal at all, if I were, I'd be driving a green tractor instead of a red one!

Yanmars seem to be a tough and well built tractor. Parts are fairly easy to get as well.
