Which Carburetor Kit ???

I need to purchase a carburetor kit to service my 1958 821 Ford. Like most things these days the prices very wildly. The cheapest normally is not the best and the most expensive is usually over priced! Does anyone use a particularly brand that they feel is good quality.

It's a TSX 662, most look similar. New carburetors are over 300.00! Doubt many people are purchasing new.

I go usually buy from one of the main suppliers, who offer a lot of parts for Fords. They are less likely to sell a 'one size fits all' kit. There are usually basic and complete kits, so depending on the age and wear you can choose. Personally I go with the full/complete kits when I'm rebuilding something like this. If' I'm going through the trouble of breaking it all down and cleaning it, the last thing I want to find is a worn shaft that needs replacement and I don't have the part. Here are a couple options:

That comprehensive kit is a little less than tge one I was looking at! Much obliged , Ford850.

Once you play with these a bit.. you will find that with MS carbs.. there are basically only 2 sizes, the small and the large carbs. MOST of the kits that are large will build ANY of the large carbs, and same with the small kits on the small carbs. the halves and neck gaskets all match up on the large to large and small to small. Biggest thing you run into is jet differences based upon application. In some cases, the 'master' kits come with many different jets so you can build up a wide variety of carbs. You can also always drill out a small jet with the correct bit if you are careful.
