Nothing to be sorry for, Communication in this medium is difficult untill we are all on the same page. That is why I usually ask for pictures or drawings. It really helps to steer the conversation. I am glad the discussion meandered in the right direction to help you find an answer.

Works great. Just pulled my first stump---a small one. A couple of issues----
would like to have more power---I lock it up pretty easily---have to do a lot of excavationg around the stump to finally get it out---I guess this is to be expected---it's only a 6' hoe.
The "O" ring seal around the plunger gadget that goes up and down when you move the stick is leaking. I tried reversing it the other day because I didn't have one handy, but it still leaks. I assume any similar sized "O" ring will work. I will take it out again and go get one at the hardware store---or are they special???
Also, broke the little finger thing that goes into the top of one of the valve/plunger assemblies--I posted a picture of what's left of it. Pic 1742 clearly shows where this part goes. The stick is threaded into a block that swivels on a pin. One side of the block is threaded and this little finger/lever piece screws into the block. The rounded end of the part (broken off) fits into the top of the valve/plunger and pushes/pulls it up and down as you work the stick. I actually ruined that piece by grinding it slightly to get the plunger to work smoother---but it was something else binding that I discovered after I did that. As my son likes to remind me---ALL MY WOUNDS ARE SELF-INFLICTED. This is a "Guilin" hoe. Do you know anybody that has parts for it.

Cool!

Applied force is a factor of the hydraulic pressure applied to the cylinders. A pressure gauge might be handy to determine if the hoe valve safety is allowing the full rated pressure. The fluid always must flow so When you run a cylinder to it's maximum extension or retraction, or apply force to an object and movement stops, the pressure builds quickly and the safety opens at it's set pressure to allow fluid to continue to flow(bad things happen when the fluid stops flowing:)). That safety limits the ammount of force the hoe cylinders can exert. This pressure is felt all the way back to the pump. A pressure gauge "T"d into the supply line ahead of the valve would show you the system pressure. The pressure read when holding a lever with the associated cylinder at it's limit will show you the pressure that the safety is set at. With the gauge in circuit you could see if the system pressure is up to that specified in the manual. I would not exceed the rated pressure as it is based on the component and structural strength and the odds of breaking something, blowing a hose/fitting and spraying hot fluid go up drastically over rated pressure.

The "O" ring leak may be due to excessive backpressure on the outlet line. most valves with a single outlet line(non PB) have a pressure limit on ths hose. If you had connection issues, you may have had excessive pressure on this line. I would pull out the old one and try a hydraulic shop first for a generic replacement. They would probably have a Better selection.
