WHICH HYD OIL TEMP GAGE TO USE PURCHASE?

want to install a hydrolic oil temperater gage on the machine.
what model and make would you suggest?
should I install it on the return line to the oil resourve tank or in the pressure line from hyd pump?
thinking of using a hyd tee between two hoses and screw the gage with 1/4 npt tread into the tee would that work?
Need info on make and model of gage with npt 1/4 inch tread.
Any gage like that on th emarket, did not find any on a google search.

I suggest you just buy an engine oil temp guage from any auto supply
store. I have used those and they do work.

Ideally, you want the transducer to be in the hyd oil reservoir, not impeding
the flow of fluid in a hose. This will give you the temp of most of the
oil, not the localized temp of oil that has been cooled by flowing thru hoses
or heated by just exiting a heat source. If you insist on putting it in a T
fitting between two hoses, then certainly do NOT use the high pressure
side of the circuit.

You could perhaps use one of those infrared temp guns. Take off the reservoir fill cap and aim the laser spot into the hydraulic tank, and read temp, plus use it at other places on the machine for temp readings.

I'm running ISSPRo gauges in my Dodge Sprinter (oil and transmission temp, among others) and had good luck with them.

Different schools of thought on that - my transmission temp gauge is installed on the outlet side of the tranny that goes to the cooler (right off the torque converter/pump) - this is probably the worst case scenario temp-wise

I don't wanna know the average temp ... I wanna know the highest temp .... so I can pull off and rest the machine before I smoke the tranny .....

It will ... but as dfkrug sez: "Avoid the high pressure side ....."
