I have a 2008 Kubota BX2350. The tractor has the hydraulic connections for a front loader as well as the valve block and operating lever, but I don't have a loader. The tractor doesn't have hydraulic connections at the rear. The hydraulic quick release connections terminate alongside the motor and are colour coded white, blue, red and yellow. I wish to operate a log splitter, but I don't know which two connections I should use. I've studied the operators manual and it mentions a detent position for the operating lever and possible quick release connections for auxiliary machines such as a log splitter, however the manual does state that if the wrong connections are used it will likely blow the seals on the hydraulic motor. I'm very wary of connecting a log splitter incorrectly and doing damage. Can someone tell me which quick release connection colours I should use?

Someone will chime in on which connections. But I would say the couplers that are activated by pushing the handle forward and back would be best. All these work ports are protected by an internal relief valve so there can稚 be any damage.

On a side note, even at full throttle you will be really disappointed on how slow the log splitter will work.

Thanks for this valuable information. I already have an electric powered 7 ton log splitter that works fine, but going deeper into the forest means I have to haul the logs back to home to split them & then return them to the wood adjacent to my house to store. I was hoping to be able to split them where I cut them to avoid so much handling. Maybe I should buy a generator for the splitter that I've already got if the hydraulic version will be slow. We're cutting oak and chestnut 3-4 years ahead to be sure the wood is well dried. Thanks again for the insight.

Those are the same colors as mine, IIRC. I can try to check tomorrow if I remember. You may want to check your flow rate in manual or on tractor data. You can calculate your cylinder volume and by know in your pump GPM you can calculate cycle time.

Flow rate on a tractor hydraulic system are going to result in a rather slow moving splitter. Or a fast moving one that is underpowered. Also, read up on open center vs closed center hydraulics. You can make the stock valves work with a bungee cord, but it starts getting more & more kludgy on an already underperforming system.

The service dept told me where the colors go on your main hyd block where the loader comes out. I looked today but could not find them. Your spliter will be very slow and if you get a hard chuck it probably won't split it

Does the splitter have its own pump?

On my B2601 White and Yellow are boom, Blue and Red are curl.
