Which hydraulic fluid for shibaura sd4000a

Hi I am new to tractors and have just got a shibaura sd4000a 2 wheel drive 1977 running. I want to drain hydraulics and put new fluid in - but am not sure which fluid to use. I had seen a video on an old Ford having hydraulics overhauled and they talked about the oil not being too thick. Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks

If the hydraulic fluid is used only for the hydraulics you can use a generic hydraulic fluid like number 46. However, many tractors use the hydraulic fluid for the transmission as well. For these you should use a universal hydraulic fluid.

134D is after market fluid for fords & other tractors with wet brakes, dry brakes use 134 fluid or the 134D.. putting 134 fluid in a ford with wet brakes eats up the brake pads and the pieces get sucked up by the hydraulic system.. I use Shell Rotella 134D fluid in my Ford 2120 from TS, the cheaper travelers fluid has many reviews of people finding particles of metal in the bottom of the bucket
