I have a TC33 but was wondering, never had owned one of the older models like 1620, 1920, 1710, (I think those are right model numbers), were these tractors more dependable and better built then the new Boomer TC models? I really like the old look with the white fenders and more square front ends. I know they make the TC30 which has the older look but would like to know which one was or is better??????

Have a 1630, but it is one of earlier boomer series, 98.

Does everything I have wanted it to do and then some.

They are dependable but archaic in design compared to the new boomers. You would be happy with it if you didn't previously own a new TC. Otherwise you would not be happy with some of the luxuries you would know it is missing. Still a nice little tractor.

I have a 1920, but almost bought a tc35.. most of the differences are cosmetic sheetmetal and fibreglass.. but one thing gets me.... weight/size / engine specs.
My 1920 is about 3300 lbs, and has a 4cy engine to generate its hp. The tc35 is shorter, lighter, and has a 3cyl engine ( with less CU inches than my 4 ) to generate it's HP.

My guess is they figure they can overwork that 3 cyl, and squeeze some hp out of it, and save a buck.

I feel better with the bigger engine.. and the 'work' is divided over 4 cyls' than 3... ( there are disadvantages to.. more moving parts.. more wear, etc..

But that one fact made me buy the 1920.... the rest is just options and looks in my opinion, aside from some minor qc issues.

The 1920 is a great tractor. IMO, the closest thing to it in NH's current line-up is the TC40, not the TC35

I have a 1720 with shuttle shift and I love it. I like the metal fenders over the fiber glass or polymer materials. I like the looks of it as well. I'm not saying I wouldn't buy a newer model at some point in the future if my needs change, but the 1720 does all I ask of it. It is really a great tractor.

My TC33 has just 40 hours on it and has been back to the dealer 3 times for minor leaks. Don't get me wrong, I also own a kubota and after driving the TC33 I can hardly stand to drive the kubota, the TC33 fits like a glove and i love it! i just wondered if the last models were built better......

<font color=black>I was kinda thinking that myself... I guess the salesman who was talking to me was just matching hp to hp.. but the 40 would be a closer looking model.

Strange though that the hp for the 35 is on par with the 1920 though.. or did he tell me wrong ( I' havn't looked at a dealer spec sheet for either at 35 or 40 ).

The horsepower of the 1920 is on par with the TC35, but the TC35's rated HP is at a higher RPM (2500 for 1920 vs 2600 RPM for the TC35). 3 Pt hitch cap is closer for the TC40 (~2300#) and the 1920 (~2200#) vs the TC35 (2000#). As mentioned, the TC40 has a 4 cylinder engine, like the 1920.

Your 1920 and TC40 both use the same powerplant...

I've said it many times before... in my opinion, the 1920 & 2120 are probably the best older compact/utility tractors made...! /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
