With my JD MX6, I just sheared the vertical shaft from the gear box to the pan. Was making a turn while cutting and the pan apparently settled on a small mound of dirt (not rock). Have hit a lot of rocks with no damage. Could not believe seeing the pan lying in the dirt. Now JD wants $1400 to replace with 'new and improved' gear box and pan. I am suspicious and will steer clear of JD
Presently looking at the Woods 72 standard duty series at cost of $1,795; the Woods 720 at cost of $2,695; and the Bush Hog 296 Series at cost of $2,250. Am pulling with a 5105 JD (50hp) tractor.
The dealer seemed to prefer the Woods over the competition.
You folks helped me make my tractor purchase. Will appreciate your advise on a rotary cutter.
Thanks
