Which is the real post?

I was Googling about log splitters today and I ran across this result:

Log splitter advise, please? - Farmer Forums

Read it a little and it wasn't what I was looking for so I continued my search.

Then I came to this result:

Same exact question and (mostly) the same exact responses. User names had been changed and the dates, but everything else was the same.

Do forums trade or share threads to encourage traffic? Or is there some online thievery going on here?

What gives?

I am a member of TBN and would like to believe they are on the up and up. But I can't help but feel a little violated to think my identity may be changed and my discussions (the few there are) sent elsewhere.

I would worry less about your discussions being sent anywhere and more about your discussions being copied somewhere. No advantage to TBN to send out threads and posts.

The "Farmer Forum" threads sure has a lot of people with 5, 6, or 7 posts responding.

Look at the threads - 0 or 1 reply, 4500 views???

I used 4 unusual sentences from the Farmer Forum and Searched TBN and found direct matches. Numerous threads are direct ripoffs from TBN, and others just have a couple words changed.

Multiple threads started by a person with a first post quoting CNN or other news sources.

The whole forum is a ripoff of TBN and other sources.

Why don't you PM the original poster here on TBN and ask him if he posted the same question on multiple forums?

Check out the two URLs given in the original post - it isn't the same question on multiple forums - its a copy of the ENTIRE THREAD - the original post and the replies to it. This other web site has copied ENTIRE THREADS from TBN, changed the poster's names, and called them their own.

not unusual - I see amazon reviews ripped off all the time. Stealing is a cheap way to get content. This site doesn't exactly need to steal for content - we put it up. (and benefit from it)

Content drives clicks, and clicks drive advertising. And advertising is how Mohammed and Company make money. And I hope they make a lot of it - they deserve it. I've certainly gotten far more than I've paid for here (that'd be zero, in case it isn't obvious)

I'd say Farmer Forums is stealing from mohammed.

I would say the real post is here. It would seem the Farmer Forums were created Jan 31 2007. I could not find a thread before february 2007. It's not a very active site. One post today.
Are they ripping off our forums to fool the sponsors?

As a moderator I can assure you that tbn is on the up & up and your discussions aren't being sent anywhere. I've notified Muhammad of the "online thievery"

WOW! I didn't read further because some of the words had been changed. Taking your suggestion, I read further and about all they did was change the names. I, too will notify the owners of TBN to let them know.

We're aware of the issue. It does take some time to locate all offending material, run tools to prove the infringement, locate proper parties to receive notice, prepare Cease & Desist notice, and so forth.

Rest assured, we will take appropriate action.
