Buying Advice Which Kubota to buy

/ Which Kubota to buy #21
I have a friend who is in the same situation. He has around 20 acres with a new home. He had a deal on a lightly used B series. It was around 5 years old with low hours and a few implements. His uncle and I suggest that he pass and get a small framed L series. The 2501 seems to be the tractor of choice for those concerned with the new Tier 4 emissions. He is contemplating it or the other larger L's. I told that I would go for the larger HP units. I am not aware of any endemic issues with the DPF and regens.

IF the dealer is suggesting a 2501, thats fine. It gives you an opportunity to see it in person, perhaps drive it. IF you like that size....

I'd then start shopping for a L3200 or L3800. They are the same tractor, same loader, same physical dimensions and capacities.....but with more HP and pre-emissions

When I was upgrading, I looked at the 2501 and was fairly impressed. Then I looked at the 4701 and was more impressed. Much of my work is tree removal, and pulling out stumps as well as whatever landscaping my wife chooses for me. I really wanted a capable backhoe. The choice between the 4701 and the MX series was tough when I considered price. I'm pretty sure 90% of what I do can be done with the 4701, but I really dislike the idea of reaching the day when I think "I wish I had just a little more power."

The emissions issue has not been an issue for me. Much of the time, my RPMs are high anyway.
