Well, it APPEARS that I MIGHT be able to buy a LT in the next 4-5 weeks. I won't have a LOT of cash, but need a few pointers. I will only have about $1500 - so the "top line" ones are out.
Here is what I WANT:
Cast axle
At least a 46" deck
"Reverse Mowing" option (or one I can disconnect...)
At LEAST an 18 HP motor.
I have looked at:
White Super 46
Huskee 4600
Poulan (I THINK it was a 500 series....)
I am not sure about Hydro/Automatic/Geared. I am 6'7' and my wife is 6'2', so it has to have room to get us in the seat. Also - I THINK it is the "automatic" machines that have the funky brake pedal that it always about a foot off the floor board. These models just won't work. Not enough room to get my foot that high.
We have about 2 acres to mow, part of which is on a hill. I know the little JD STX38 with a 12HP Kohler wouldn't get out of it's own way on the hill, with me on it.
(BTW - JD STX38 Yellow Deck is for sale in SE Nebraska - ran in 2006 when I last used it - used my sister's Huskee last year))
How about motors? Some have Kohler "Command", some B/S "Vanguard". The Kohler is usually a single, the B/S is a twin.
Any other options you can give me will be GREATLY appreciated. This will be the FIRST NEW LT I have ever purchased, so I need all the help I can get.
