Which Mahindra for a 5 foot flail mower?

I am thinking about getting a Mahindra because of the exceptional quality and excellent price. Kubotas are great too, but Mahindra has such great prices. Anyways, which Mahindra would be best for a 5 foot flail mower? I dont need a FEL really, because I am just going to use the tractor for mowing and post hole digging. Also which company makes a good quality affordable flail mower?

Art, depends on what you are mowing, but we have sold a number of 2015s with 60" Vrisimo flails. The Vrisimo is an expensive unit, actually manufactured in California, but it is the best of the best. Rears Pak Flail is also excellent, made in Oregon. Caroni makes a decent economy flail, we used to sell them, but had a few problems and decided to go with the orchard quality Vrisimo. A Vrisimo or Pak Flail is more than double the price of a Caroni, perhaps close to triple.

It takes a bout 4 HP per foot to run an orchard flail, +/- depending on how fast you like to mow and what you are mowing. If you want to stay compact and want a little more margin on HP, go with the 2415 gear. It has the 2615 engine, and has lots of power. Of course the 2615 is a great machine, with more than enough grunt. I personally mow my 7 acre Pistachio orchard with a 3215 gear with a 84" flail. Generally we mow when the grass is 8" to 10" tall.
