When I started the selection process, I compared the l3800 4x4, Mahindra 4025 4x4 and the Massey Ferguson 2605 4x4. I ended up with the MF2605 mainly because it had more capacity as far as the front end loader.

I would check several Kioti dealers for pricing. When I bought my DK90 this spring, the price quoted was wildly variable; from several thousand below msrp to several thousand above msrp. Fortunately for me, the best price was also the dealer I wanted to buy from.

The Kubota guys were unresponsive and/or not very helpful, BTW. I've always wanted a Kubota for whatever reasons, but the dealers generally need to give their heads a shake and realize they are competing with more brands than ever before.........and, as in automobiles the international parts sourcing has made all the brands the same, IMO.

Kubota builds most of their tractor and so does Kioti. A very good thing when considering a brand, I'd say.

Get another Kioti quote! See where you're really at. It may give you some leverage with your dealer, if nothing else.

Omineca, I live in the Lower Mainland - I too have been looking at the L3800 vs a Kioti DK40SE. I have same acreage as you, and am in a very similar situation it would seem. Would love to know what you end up with. I kind of balked at the price of the L3800 and have yet to go into the Kioti dealership and see what they have in a similar size and capability.

I ended up walking from the Kioti because of the lack of leg room. I'm 6'3 with size 13 feet and I had a **** of a time with the pedals. My foot usually got caught up on the underside of the clutch while trying to swing it to the top side.

Kioti seams like the better of the two when it comes to specs, especially weight. The price for the L3800 was way too high after reviewing the bigger bang for your buck Kioti.

So what to do. I found a LS dealer 2.5 hours away and decided to check out the inventory. Turns out they sell a great tractor with decent specs accross the board. The LS G3033. I took it for a test drive and was really impressed with the leg room and heavy duty loader. It was probably the best bang for my buck I have seen so far, came in a lot cheaper than the Kioti, by about 4k, and it also comes standard with a few bells and whistles other dealers have as options.

I will be buying this model soon. The only downside is that they do not do any sort of financing so I still have to try and come to terms with dropping that kind of liquid cash on a new tractor. Not that I can't but it just hurts less when you know you have financing options.

I have seen a number of dealers announcing that LS is now offering up to 84 months 0% financing....I'd give your local dealers a call.

What's sort of funny is that in the R series versus DK series, the footroom is the opposite, with the Kioti having more. You'd think companies would stick with certain standards, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

I ended up buying the LS G3033. I have about 10 hours on it and am very impressed so far. Will be taking it out to my back 5 acre yard to gather some wind blown firewood today. Spent the last 2 days creating and grading a trail/road to the bulk of the timber harvest. Simply amazing workhorse.

Shhhh.....you're going to make the Kioti guys jealous (you guys know I like Kioti too!).

I am looking at McCormick now - Am told it is identical in every way except the badge amd the colour, but considerably less than the Kioti...Thoughts?

Landini, McCormick, Bobcat and Kioti are all Daedong tractors in different colours. The big differences are some of the electrical components and wiring harnesses, the loader, the warranty and the seat. My dealer stopped selling Landini when Daedong started building them and started selling LS instead (they used to make Landini CUTS). He said there was no point having a blue Kioti with half the warranty that costs more. My experience with my local McCormick dealer (Case dealer) is that they know virtually nothing about them and they aren't very interested in selling them. The prices were higher and I think the warranty is 2 years. I haven't seen a FEL that beats (or even matches) the KL 401 loader that is on the DK 40/45/50 SE.

If you're looking for a deal, I'd be more inclined to see if Bobcat could set you up. They're leaving the tractor market but parts and service won't be an issue either with Bobcat or a local Kioti dealer after the warranty is up.

Thanks guys. I went and got pricing on the McCormick equivalent to the DK40 - was surprised that the pricing was still so close. Still not sure how big to go or what to get really.
