Which Model is Comparable to Kubota 4740

Hi all,

I had been out price shopping JD 4720 and Kubota 4740's, thinking I was comparing apples in terms of power and utility. For some reason the JD specs on PTO HP wandered into the weeds of my brain, and I got locked onto the 4720 thinking I had the best alignment of models.

Before I waste my time trying to compare the two MFRs, am I correct to think that there is a reasonable point of comparison between these two? If so, then what model of JD do you think lines up fairly close to the Kubota 4740?

I'm still developing a budget, and I'd like a hydro static model that is large enough to operate a 7' brush hog on, at worst case, a pond bank. (Plus has a little HP left-over for the unfathomable).

The closer comparison on the L4740 would be Deere's 4320 tractor in terms of pto hp. After that other than the Deere having a turbo and planetary finals they are very similar on paper. The 4720 is the correct chassis but is quite a bit more hp (56 pto on current models) so the pricing will not be similar.

On the Canadian Kubota website (Kubota.ca) when you work your way to the model you want they have a competative compare you click and eventually a PDF comes up.

The unit they compare to the L4740 is the JD 4320 as the previous response noted. Not sure if the US site has this feature but as I am currently looking to buy my first tractor , I find it pretty handy.

The Kubota transmission works very well compared to the jd. You should check that out with operating before you make the plunge.
