Which model?

I found this ad in my local paper:
1997 New Holland 4x4 tractor. New front end loader, PS, 28 hp, 620 hours, Excellent condition. $10,500

Firs of all, what model do you guys think this may be? Second, is this a good deal? I know that it is really impossible to tell if it is a good deal without inspecting it, but I am just looking for an estimate. Any help would be great.

If its a Hydro, then it sounds like a 1620. If its a gear drive then its probably a 1710. These machines had 27 hp. I have found that second-hand sellers of tractors more often than not inflate the HP rating. Sometimes by a little sometimes by a lot. I've seen 17 hp tractors touted as 23 hp.

Oh yeah, I've heard of better deals than the one you've described but not around here. (Michigan) The tractor you described would carry an asking price of $12,500 to $14,500 around where I live.

620 hours is enough time to beat it up, so look it over carefully. If everything works, and it looks good, it probably was cared for. (nothing guarenteed of course) Call and get the model# then check out NH web site for the spec's, or agdealer.com for prices and info. Good luck!

if its a 1997 more than likely its a 1925! at that HP.

My NH brochure lists the 1720 as having 27.7 gross engine HP (26.5 net, 23.5 PTO). This would be my bet on what the model is.

I can't believe it's a 1920, mainly for two reasons: Price is too low, and HP is probably too low. The NH brochure lists the NH 1920 as having 33.3 HP gross, 32 net, and 28.5 PTO HP. I can't imagine anyone advertising their tractor for sale using the LOWEST HP spec (and rounding it down to 28 hp)

MY bet is on the 1720. If this is correct, that's a good price, assuming it's in decent shape. The 1720 is a great tractor, if the size is in the range you are looking for. It's about the same physical size as the TC 29 currently sold by NH.
