Hey hello all,
now I know this probably has been covered sometime in the past but hopefully someone will chime in. We just got back from our Western RV trip and were gone about 40 days. Needless to say my 2 acre lawn was in real need of mowing when we returned. Now I normally mow with with my small 18 horse Sears Craftsman Tractor which has a 48" deck on it, let me add it is quite a nice cutting machine. And yes of course I had lots of raking to do after cutting all that grass. My buddies told me that it rained almost everyday we were gone In up-state N.Y. where we live. The grass sure showed me that, never mind that the local weatherman confirmed that July was the wettest on record.Ok, Ok, hears the question of which one, Should I buy a Wood's Finish Mower or should I buy a Land Pride Grooming mower for my B3200? Which ever one I buy will make the task of mowing lawn much easier when we return home after being away for longer periods of time Rv-ing. Which mower is the best and the most reliable to own?

They both are good ... I prefer the Land Pride Grooming mower... rear discharge. I have the FDR 2584 I love it, cuts a perfect 7 foot swath, never clogs up ... KennyV

Have you considered a flail mower? They come in both rough cut and fine cut. The fine cut almost does the job as well as a reel-type mower.

I mow 5 acres and it looks like a golf course fairway when done. There is almost no raking since the flails tend to mulch the cuttings.

They are expensive however.

Thanks for your input on rear finish or grooming mowers, I have been considering a Fla Mower but have not nailed it down yet. Keep you posted when I make purchase.

Between the two, I doubt one is "better" than the other. Many years ago, my father in law bought a couple of Caroni 7 foot finish mowers, one with hinged blades and one without and used them with 60 and 80 hp tractors and they are still going. He tended to use them in some pretty rough stuff when we were in the process of reforestation on some of our land and smoked a couple of belts, but they just keep going. I am sure the Woods or and Pride will last practically forever. I own both Land Pride and Woods and have a Woods DS1260 on order.

Thanks for the opinions on which type of RFM for me to purchase, I really appreciate and value others opinions when buying implements.I always figured if someone had a bad experience with some brand, they would be open and tell if machinery worked well or not. Well to end my thread, I purchased a Woods Heritage, Model RD72, with an optional anti-scalping Roller. I tried it out yesterday on my back lot along the stonewall fence, and it cut very well. It's cut and finish was very close to what my garden tractor can do. It is quite heavy when paired up with my Kubota B3200 and of course I'll have to be careful not to cut when It's too wet or I'll leave unwanted ruts.It seems that Woods makes a good product, lots of spacers for height adjustments, and grease fittings every where. It even hooked up to my Speed-Co Quick Hitch.
Thanks, DevilDog :D:D:D
