Before it gets really cold I want to flush my coolant and change the thermostat. My year tractor came with a 160* thermostat. New Holland now has 180* and 190* thermostats. Would it be a bad move to go to a hotter thermostat? Thanks

it wouldn't be bad in the winter, it will help a great deal in providing better heat for the cab heater!.

The higher temp thermostat won't hurt a thing. Just remember your temperature gauge will read a little hotter.

Thanks for the quick replies. I'll move up to one of the hotter 'stats.

Oh, one more thing. Is there anything special about the OEM parts or would an aftermarket compatible thermostat be fine?

It is surely an outsourced part to begin with. There is nothing wrong conceptually with an aftermarket thermostat. But not all aftermarket parts are created equally. If the OEM stat was readily available and not much more $ than aftermarket I would use OEM. You may have to get the gasket from NH anyway.

I come across Kumar Bros. replacement parts fairly often. Any comments on their quality?
