Hi All;

Just joined. seems like a great forum.

I am going through the agony of trying to figure out which tractor to get.

- 3-4 acres of flat lawn to mow
- 2 acres of brush to hog now and them.
- front end loader to move the zillion yards of mulch that my wife uses every year.

We have dealers of all three colors in the area with Orange the closest. All of the dealers get good reviews.

Have accepted the concept of a tractor over a ZTR and tractor ($), and that the group seems to be unanimious on "bigger is better"

So I am looking at:

Kubota BX 2330
Deere 2210
New Holland TZ24DA or TC24DA

Anyone have any thoughts or comments?

All advice is welcome.

My thanks,

jgsquared

The 2210 is very nice. I work for a Deere dealer and I have driven quite a few. Quiet running Yanmar diesel, High and Low hydro trans. Also you now can get them with industrial tires.

I would guess if you bought any of these tractors you'd be very happy indeed. Best bet is to drive all of them and play with the FEL and ask how the mower comes on and off and stuff like that.

But really, no one here will be able to help you much beyond saying they are all great, go test drive them and likely one will just feel better.

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but aren't all models jg mentions sub-compacts except for the TC24DA (compact)? If this is true, the TC24DA will cost more, but will generally be more productive and will be able to handle "larger" jobs.

JG - for what it's worth, I have alot less "work" to do than you describe and I went for the compact model TC24DA because of future intents, and I didn't want to be stuck with a sub-compact model that wasn't up to the tasks I expect to be performing in the future. Just my two cents worth...no matter what, make your decision and don't look back /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Good luck!

I'd go with the TC24DA myself. If not for the Kioti CK20 being available, New Holland would have been the one for me. G

Bigger is better if you don't have lots of small tree or aren't mowing with it.
I use my sub compact on 4 acres with about 100 trees and it works great. I moved thousands of buckets of dirt with the FEL during our remodel project.
I started out with the BX2200 and switched 2 years later to a BX23.
If you are considering a compact that costs more but ultimately decide you need a subcompact, then consider the BX23 for the backhoe. I have found so many things to do with it. Adds, move, and deletes of bushes is a snap. The broken hydrant laid dormant for years but was fixed in 2 hours with the BH.
My only regret... I wish I would have bought it years ago.
Good luck!

I would try to get something with a "full size" Cat 1 3PH.

Full size is in quotes, because while there are standards for what a Cat 1 is, they seem to get a little bigger somehow each time you look at the next larger tractor... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I love my bx2200 for what it is but don't really like the smallness of the 3PH. It is not a problem for me because I have a second, larger tractor. If I had to have only one tractor for my 3.7 acres, I often think it would be something like the Kubota b7500 or the NH TC24...something very capable and not too big...
