I have a Field Boss built by Iseki. It has power steering but instead of hydraulic cylinders, it has a steering gearbox just like a car. It has had a bad leak for quite a while but you have to disassemble half the tractor to access the components. I've just had time to work on it. I took the reservoir and gearbox out and cleaned and reassembled so I could see the leak. Well it must have been a loose hose clamp because when I refilled it didn't leak. I cranked the tractor to distribute the fluid. The power assist is barely noticeable now. The engine RPM's slow on lock to lock so it appears the pump is working. There is a bleeder valve on the gearbox and I bled the air out. Any ideas what may be wrong?

I have the same tractor and on yours was there a steel line connecting the gear box to the engine. If there is replace that line with a hyd hose. The engine vibration cause that line to crack under the nut and you can tighten the nut which will stop it for a while but it will be back.As far as it not having pressure I don't know what causes that. Do you have the service manual for it I think it will tell in there. Let me know and I can look in mine if you don't have one.

I am having the same problem. Did you figure out a fix?

Has anyone else had this problem with this tractor

I know nothing about your tractor but looking at the parts diagram at AGCO Parts Books there is an adjustable "poppet" (relief valve) on the valve assy. case. It could be stuck open?

I will give that a try. Thank you.

Unfortunately that did not work. Anyone else have any other thoughts.

I suspect that you will need to get a tee and connect it in line between the pump and the power steering box. Then attach a 3000 psi gauge to the tee and turn the steering wheel and see what happens to the pressure. My guess would be that your pump is worn out and not making enough pressure, especially if it had much run time while low on fluid do to the leaking gearbox.
