WHO ALL USES MR. FUNNEL

I have had back trouble in the past and I have found it easier to refuel by setting my 5 gal. fuel can on the loader bucket frame and steering wheel. Then I use one of those siphon pumps that you can buy to fill kerosene heaters. They're cheap and work well. Beats trying to hold the funnel with one hand and manipulating the fuel can with the other.

I guess one could put the funnel in another clean container and pour the fuel into that can then put a spout on it and pour the fuel directly into the tank without using a funnel.
Only problem with that is you get to man handle a five gallon can twice instead of just once.

I have a 10 gallon tank, filling it when the needle hits 1/2 takes a full 5 gallons. It only took 1 overflow to get this down.

My tank is 5.5 Gal.
To be able to dump a full 5 gal. can in the tank I would have to run it down to where I only had a half gallon left in the tank. That's too close to empty and I would probably be running out of fuel before I ever got to refuel.

1*I don't understand why the 'shoulder' of the screen is not flush with the bottom of the funnel.
Will try "swishing" next time. awlchu
2*I agree with your dislikes.
3*The fuel that is left over in the funnel I just pour back into my jug. But...my jug is just a 1 gal plastic container (windshield washer jug).
4*I believe the reason for the 'shoulder' in the funnel is so that there is a place for the water and crud to collect, and it's below the filter screen. Since fuel floats, the water will settle in the bottom. TCBoomer
5*As far as spilling and overfilling, I have that problem with any funnel if not careful. LRH

1*So the water gets trapped in the funnel instead of flowing right on through it into the tank.
Will try "swishing" next time. I don't think I would do that -see number 4 below.
2*I don't know how I will resolve them all ; but I will think of something. I always do USUALLY .
3* That's what I was planing on doing about the left over fuel.
A sperate jug like that would prevent having to keep removing and replacing the pour spout on the 5 gallon can.
Might be a good idea to spray some yellow paint here and there on the jug / don't have to paint the whole thing.
4*I think you're correct. That is why I wouldn't recommend swishing the fuel around in the funnel as you just might be swishing water right on through the funnel and into the tractor tank.
5*With a white or opaque funnel you can better see where the fuel is.

TCBloomer,

When I receivde my Mr Funnel, the instructions said to fill the funnel so that 1/3 of the screen (media) is covered with water. It should not pass or leak water.

Thus I assume the filter media is small enough not to let water pass through it.

from their web site:

Since there is no way to know if a unit was damaged during shipping or since you last used the funnel, some testing is a must. You must test the funnel as soon as you get it. Add enough water to cover 1/3 of the screen. If it does not leak it is doing what it was designed to do. A leak after shipping is rare but it can happen so if you discover a leak contact your dealer at once to get a new replacement at no charge. If you fill it full, it will leak since water is so much heavier than fuel but a water and fuel mix will not be a problem. From then on check it periodically just to make sure it was not damaged since your last use.
