where I can find a MF 135 Perkins diesel?

Hello,

I'm a long time lurker of THE forum but recently decided to join in the fun. I am new to tractoring and find myself wanting/needing a tractor for various jobs around the 26 acres in WV. I plan to use it to plant food plots, gardening, tilling, tree planting, maintain gravel driveway etc.

I can't afford a new tractor right now, but have done research here and other places to come to a semi-conclusion about what I want and need. The 135 has a following and parts seem to be reasonable(?). It has many of the features the more modern tractors have and outshines the 8N (I still may get and 8N because of parts availibility) I can turn a wrench and if I can't figure it out I have friends who can... plus I have the knowledge tractorbynet.com will be there for me too.

I keep an eye on some internet classified but am willing to take suggestions for where to look elsewhere. Does anyone know a dealer in the the WV, VA, NC, SC, OH and eastern KY and TN with an good/very good/excellent MF 135.

PM if you do or simply type a few words of encouragement for a new tractor freak.

I've seen a few in the Lancaster Farming weekly paper.. but that's PA. I'd sell my MF 65 w/ Perkins diesal for what I paid.. I'm working w/ a dealer on a TN75.

Thanks for the reply... The 65 may be little big for my needs I believe, but I'm willing to consider any possibility. PM me what you have in it and grade it on a 1-10 scale... Tires filled... hours... has it been rebuilt by you or others... etc. What year is it by the way...

I would love to get my hands on some local papers like the one you have in Lancaster, PA because farming in my part of WV is currently cattle operations (small ones at that and not many of them). I assume there is lots of farming in that part of PA.

Robert.. didn't even see your # of posts.. so forgive me for the late Welcome to TBN!!

I haven't even looked up the serial number yet to see what specific year this tractor is. I'll have to take some pictures.

MF65 w/ a 4 cylinder Perkins Diesal.. high crop.. narrow front.. power steering.. 2 rear remotes.. high-low gear.. 3 forwards, reverse.. 2 pto settings.. engine speed/ground speed.. 2 stage clutch.

The tractor currently has a mounted MF62 2-row corn huskor.. the tire tread is very good.. metal/paint very good. I replaced the two short rubber hydralic lines and cleaned all the electrical connections, charged battery and just checked/filled all fluid levels. (Will replace fluids/filters for this spring) The tractor has over 4000 hrs on it.. but I don't know if it has ever been overhauled.

I've kept it under cover.. and the farmer who had it before me had it shed kept too. It starts up on the first try.. I even
ran the huskor on a sweet corn field that wasn't fully harvested and even w/ the corn stocks broken down.. it worked great.

I paid 5K for both.. a dealer close by has a MF65 gas w/ loader for $6900.. I'd let mine go for what I paid. I even have a original drawbar ordered from TX on the way.. but that was only $70 from a tractor parts junkyard.

I did an old Iron search for MF 35's.. closest one is in Hermitage, PA for $3650.. couple in Canada prices going up to $4600. On a search for MF 65's prices ranged from $2500 to $8800 http://www.ironsearch.com you could also check on

Hope you can find something affordable.. if you have a lot of steep hills.. an older 4wd might be a better choice.
