That eastern storm may be the one that hit Idaho last week. Dumped close to 20" of snow and then rained on top of it. That was at my cabin @ 3100 feet elevation. I left work early on Wednesday to open up the road/driveway. The PTO snow blower will not throw heavy slushy snow which ended up at about 14" once it rained on top of it. The blower shute plugs up with 12" of hard packed slush and I finally just used the bucket to move all of it which works fine, but, takes a little longer. It was packing so hard in the blower I threw the sheer pin the second day while cleaning up. Had a similar problem with the wet snow last year, but, not like this. If the water content is 'lower' the blower works fine, but, not with that heavy slush.
I even tried to clear the concrete skirt in front of the garage with the 700cc 4x4 ATV with a 54 snow blade. I made it about 5 feet in that snow with a running start before coming to a stop. Good news is the Mahindra didn't even grunt moving it (all 4's are chained up BTW).
More snow coming in the morning. 2 - 3 here in town and more in the mountains. It's supposed to be the last snow fall before next year. Ok....I'll wait 5 minutes and that should change?a
Happy holidays and happy(er) new year to all.
