I noted this morning that DC has now been "upgraded" to a "Blizzard Warning"...I understand this means near white-out conditions with sustained winds of at least 35MPH for a minimum of 3 hours...we have about 10 inches now and they are calling for an addtional 12" today...we may end up with close to 2 feet before its over sometime tomorrow...Mo' later.

We got about 4" here in SE KY. I'd like to see about 20 more, but it's not happening. This stuff has been forecasted for about 24 hours before it hit and everyone waited until it got here to get out and grab their last minute items. I fueled up the truck on the way to get the kids from school and had to wait about 15 minutes on everyone to get out of the way. They were pumping kerosene like crazy. Must be because folks here get that on the heating assistance program. We live in the middle of the Daniel Boone National Forest and very few people heat with wood. Most likely because wood is too much of that dirty 4 letter word called work.
Cows were sure happy to see the 7010 cab coming with 2 rolls of hay and I was glad I paid for overnight freight to get my loader parts, and took a few minutes to put it back together last night.

You must mean "SOUTH" east  ,up hear in the northeast thats a dusting :D , just kidding
Back in Feb 07, 110" fell in 3 days, the trick was to get the tractor out often, not wait for the storm to be over. Happy snowclearing :)

Here in VA I have heard numbers over 12" might be hitting us. I just took of the bushhog and put my rear blade on. This is gonna be a lot of WORK (cough fun) lol.

I would bet Al Gore is not ready. Of course, he lives in Calif.

Cheers.....

That eastern storm may be the one that hit Idaho last week. Dumped close to 20" of snow and then rained on top of it. That was at my cabin @ 3100 feet elevation. I left work early on Wednesday to open up the road/driveway. The PTO snow blower will not throw heavy slushy snow which ended up at about 14" once it rained on top of it. The blower shute plugs up with 12" of hard packed slush and I finally just used the bucket to move all of it which works fine, but, takes a little longer. It was packing so hard in the blower I threw the sheer pin the second day while cleaning up. Had a similar problem with the wet snow last year, but, not like this. If the water content is 'lower' the blower works fine, but, not with that heavy slush.

I even tried to clear the concrete skirt in front of the garage with the 700cc 4x4 ATV with a 54 snow blade. I made it about 5 feet in that snow with a running start before coming to a stop. Good news is the Mahindra didn't even grunt moving it (all 4's are chained up BTW).

More snow coming in the morning. 2 - 3 here in town and more in the mountains. It's supposed to be the last snow fall before next year. Ok....I'll wait 5 minutes and that should change?a

Happy holidays and happy(er) new year to all.
