Who here skis?

I am an Alta-holic myself, though like teg I am getting pretty **** sick of air travel back and forth to SLC (which is actually one of the easier ski destinations to travel to). Also do some local skiing at Wintergreen VA.

I used to be a regular at Sugarbush VT when I lived in New England, and skied lots of CT, Mass, and VT resorts when I was growing up in CT and attending college in Mass. Many of the small resorts have since closed, kind of sad.

Used to ski alot years ago in Calif. Mammoth and Tahoe mostly. Haven't been out for many years.....4 knee operations the primary reasons. Some great shots there......thanks for sharing!

I live at what I always thought to be the ideal retirement location.
1/2 way between Montreal and Tremblant but for occasional skiing 20 mins from St Sauveur or Ste Adele.
Added benefit is on a lakeside surrounded by wildlife of all sorts. Just like a private wild life refuge yet 1 hour from major metropolitan.

Guess what, I lost interest in skiing hunting and fishing but not in tinkering with my tractor.
Times and interests change.
Guess I'm just the type that likes constant new changes and challenges yet it is all there for whenever I want to have a different day.
Life is good!

I do a lot of other things as well. I ride and race motorcycles in the summer months as well as work on them, restoring old bikes, making how to videos and such. As a matter of fact I have my website dedicated to those things that I like to do.

Here is a video mash up of 8mm film, VHS tape, ect... of me growing up skiing. My style is more from the early 60's-70's as that is the era my parents learn to ski in and thus transferred that on to me. I grew up on straight skies with little or no side cut and cable bindings with safety straps. This video only shows footage up until I was about 16.

We ski: both X-country and downhill. The problem here is lack of snow- a pretty much non-existent season this year, and late last year, in OR, WA, BC. The eastern half of the continent may be having the mother of all winters, but the west coast had a nightmarishly warm, sometimes rainy "winter" with record low snow in the mountains. As a consequence, this year's fire season west of the Cascades/Sierras is looking pretty alarming.

Common theme skiing, motorcycles, tractors it seems. Move 2 years ago from my dream spot 3 miles from the gondola barn, used to ski daily. Since I'm spoiled and now have to drive 20 mins, dont seem to get out there much. Only got two days in this year before surgery sidelined me, then it was just sleds to play on.
Still have the best plate on my truck though
