Thanks everyone for your posts and private messages.

Three things in the email are true. I was at Tractor Supply, it was in Tyler, and I just ran a thread on the goose.

I agree that it's most likely that it would have to be from somebody I know, but it's not that big a store, and nobody knew I was going there. Not even I did until I made that decision about ten minutes before going there.

I did do a reverse lookup on my name at AnyWho: Internet Directory Assistance; Yellow Pages, White Pages, Toll-Free Numbers, Maps and Directions and found out there are five people with my name here in Tyler. They have my address, but the phone number is bogus. There was a link for more personal information and it was kind of eary how close they had it to the cities I've lived in. Some totaly wrong, but close. Others were dead on accurate.

I couldn't find my email address anywhere with that method.

The hotmail address that this person used is the one I used when I joined this site, but that should be private. I tried to look up personal information on other members here and couldn't find anythng, so I'm assuming it's not something BarO could have done.

At first I thought it was one of those bank type emails out fishing for a reply, but there are just too many things BarO got right for me to dismiss it as luck. I was really hoping BarO was a member or a lurker and would read this and respond, either here, PM me or at my hotmail address.

Lifes little mysteries. Maybe I have a stalker? hahahahha

Thanks,
Eddie

Mystery solved.

BarO is a member of PondBoss and recognized me from my posts over there. I didn't realize that my email address was open to everyone to see, but I've now changed that.

I sure feel allot better knowing that it was something simple like this and nothing more.

Thanks,
Eddie

It may seem simple, but keep looking over your shoulder, just in case.

Actually it's better to not even open them. They can tell even opened the email and they send you more. Ounce I quit opening them at all and just deleting them... the numbers slowed down. The key is to get rid of the preview pane as well. It it opens in the preview pane it's the same as opening it. I also use Spamfighter. It works awesome at eliminating that junk. Not only does the stuff not get into my inbox, but I have quit getting spam altogether. I used to get over 30 a day and now I MIGHT get one or two.

For the first 8 years I was on line I kept my e-mail address fairly hidden, even when I had WebTV. In that time I rarely received more than 1 or 2 spams a month, if that. About 13 months ago I bought a camera on line from Crutchfield. About 3-4 weeks later, the spam started. Since then, it's been coming in at a rate of anywhere from 6-7 to 15-20 per day. Needless to say, I sent Crutchfield a "thank you" note & promised to NEVER spend a red cent on their products again, & try to dissuade others from doing so. Needless to say, I never received a response from them...

I agree with disabling the preview pane! When I finally went with a computer, that was the first thing I did on windoz wonderful mail client.

Thankfully, the spam I'm receiving is quite easily spotted in the title.
