Could you set your wheels wider and get a 72"? On my 3710 the 72" just sticks outside the tires. It cuts great I wish I would have picked up a bigger one. Anything under 3 inch is fair game with this rotory mower.

Do you want 66" deck width or 66" cut width? Most companies advertise deck width. For instance, many popular 72" rotary cutters actually cut 68". The same brand 60" cutters cut 57". Most dealers don't even realize this. To find out what you're looking at. Measure the deck width, the remember the blades have to fit inside that deck. Most companies use an inch or more clearance. Of course, you can always measure the tip to tip on the blades, but you have to go underneath to get that.

I mow the pasture with a finish mower. It seems to work better because it is uneven and has hills. I only use the hog for tough stuff like expanding the pasture removing 2-3 year saplings. I have an HST an love it. Next time I take it out I will have to make sure to take before and after shots. That won't be until it warms up.
I was looking at the 3830 and would like to loader capability but unless the bucket is bigger it wouldn't do me much good. I have been moving bank run gravel from my gravel pit most of the winter trying to level some land for spring. I can have the bucket overflowing and still not have any problem lifting it. I do like the access under the hood better than mine. I have a Woods Brush Bull 72". I haven't actually checked to see what the path it cuts is to be truthfull.

W/ a 3830 I wouldn't go less than 72" cutter.
I'm getting one for my 35D only because
84" is a little too heavy.
I used to pull a 72" Bushhog behind Super H
(33 belt hp, pto hp?) did good job and live pto
on it is nice.

ok sounds like the 72 is the way to go.i guess i will choose b/t the king kutter 72" for 800.00,woods 72" for ?? or the bush hog sq720 @ 1279.00.mowers up here near seattle i think tend to be a little more dough than in other parts of the country probably due to shipping.thanks for all your help.bws

Now if you were talking the Bush Hog 286... that's a terrific md rotary cutter... but the only advantage of the Squealer line over the KingKutter is it has the Bush Hog logo on it... other than that, you're really spending twice as much money for basically the same thing.../w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif
