Just wondering if I'm the only one nuts enough to wash and wax my JD 5320. You'd think the novelty would wear off after 3+ years but I still do it. Even put some tire shine on the tire occassionally. I even washed and waxed the FEL and last year I even washed and waxed the MX6 mower attachment.

I do. ;)

It's not just for the shine... ;)

Remember the 'real' reason for waxing is to keep water from penetrating the paint and rusting the unit. Waxing will help keep implements 'rust free' for longer. I usually even wax the inside of my snowblower (Although I'm sure it wears off quickly). Any surface that may see a lot of water will benefit from wax. I also wax the rims to keep them from rusting due to moisture/water exposure.

I confessed to hosing off my little toy Deere after playing around in the mud to my farming kinfolk and all I remember about the conversation was the phrase "badge of honor", the term "cityboy" used in a manner inconsistent with a complement, and a suggestion as to places on the tractor that "get greasy and should be cleaned out real good". :)

I admit it, even the plastic bits get a coat of wax but so far the implements haven't had more than a hose-off. But now that you mention it...

Cleaning, touchup paint as needed, Klasse wax (maybe a carnauba topcoat this year), 303 on the black plastic (ArmorAll on steriods), and, yes, sometimes Meguiars on the tires. Of course, that's what I use on my car so it's not as extravagant as it seems. I hope.

Guilty, about once/year. Generally, just blow the crap off it and the cutter or shredder with air pressure.

I wash my equipment, tractors 3720 Cab and 244J loader weekly...they are waxed at least twice per season...I even armor-all the tires and the cab areas...my last tractor looked virtually brand new after 5 years of use when I sold it...

That's a mighty fine looking duster you got setting on the tractor there. :)

If I washed after every use I wouldn't get anything done in the fields throughout the year. I usually only clean them off at the end of the season. To much equipment to wax. I can't even imagine how long it would take to do the combine.

Clembart that machine looks brand new. Nice job. Your tractor is shinning so much at first I did not even notice the dog sitting shotgun.

Once I get my machine (hopefully by the weekend) I am positive I will also clean it. The John Deere site mentions not to wax the bonnet, saying it can damage the plastic, it seems you guys are having no troubles. Although when it comes to cars Wax is not needed unless the car is for show. Wax melts when it gets hot, not really the best thing for car paint finishes. A good polish will always be more suitable for everyday driving type of cars vs. waxing.

Either way I think the JD line up looks so good you almost have to keep it nice and clean to match the style

I wish I had time to wash and wax my tractor. . . I'd do something else.
I hose it off in the fall and sometimes after some particularly muddy experience with the fel.
