So I have about 92 hrs on my gc1710 since last December and while I consider myself to be very careful with the tractor I still have managed to break more items than I would like.

Today's oops is when I was mowing I pulled too close to the woods and a trimmed branch poked straight into my left headlight. Now I have a broken headlight mount and a headlight that looks like Johnny 5 from short circuit.

I've also broken one 3 pt arm, and bent the mower deck left rear mount.

Between the factory rops lights and this I'm starting to dislike the plastic pieces.....

Breaking plastic is nothing, I can break steel...

I have two pins to hold my bucket or my forks onto the fell mast on my JD and they work great. Every now and then when I need to switch back and forth a few times between them I don't put the pins in, i just let the bucket or forks float on the carrier.

I forget to pin them when done sometimes and that is a dangerous situation at times. I have to really focus and take the time to put them in.

Not long ago I pinned them both and was moving some logs but out of the blue one side of the fork carrier let loose from the FEL on one side and dangled there. I forgot one pin when I hooked it up. I reattached it up and went back to work and all was well.

But... then when I wanted to switch to the bucket on it wouldn't go on. The big caste iron shoe or holder that holds the attachment to the FEL was bent maybe 20 degrees. It was a big caste iron piece so I tried heating it up with a weed burner but couldn't get it straightened out, so a $125 down the drain.

Plus I was heating it up on my work vice with the garage door open and the heat melted the plastic backing off the garage door. Plus, when I was heating it some plastic bolt and nut bins that were 5 feet away started to burn.

Whoops. I am going back to bed.

You what !? You broke a 3pt arm ? You mean the lower lift arm portion of the 3pt hitch arrangement OR you mean the arm that is part of the tractor that lifts the lower lift arm via a linkage ? Either way I think that is VERY unusual. Got a picture ?

I used to just "carry" my forks like that too. Now it's strictly against the rules. Pick up the carriage or the bucket, and get off and pin it. No exceptions.

wait until you go in to get a price for a replacement for that headlight mount.

agco won't sell you just the $10.00 plastic part that mounts the headlight to the hood, instead opting to charge $135.00 cdn for each side assembly, which includes the headlight.

in my case, both headlights are fine and still work, but the plastic mounting brackets are broken and not intact... so when I go to replace them I will have two extra headlights that I don't need and a bill for over $300.00 taxes in. :(

" I've also broken one 3 pt arm, " you said. I'm still wondering what exactly you broke.

Ladt I knew the mower deck piece or 3 pt. Arm are metal.

And I felt bad scratching a little paint on my hood removing the fel.
