Who's On Ice ?

We got hit in Warrenton Missouri, but apparently not as bad as some folks in Oklahoma. I've seen quite a few power company trucks heading through Missouri going to the West.

Kind of great how thay will help one another out when needed.

I got about 1/4-1/2" at my place (outside of Bunkerhill IL) last weekend. The weather event last weekend went, snow, then changed to sleat about 10 and sleeteed its arse off for like an hr or more, then back to snow. That was thurs night. then over the next few days we got freezeing rain on top of that.

not as much as last year so not much/nothing came down (mother nature did her trimming last year) our power never went out, but i attribute most of that to having spent an entire day working on getting the generator running. (had to track down a carb rebuild kit etc)

but now we are expecting 3-6" of snow by the end of this weekend.

but ill take snow over ice ANY day!

Just out side of Des Moines IA - we got about 1/2" followed by about 3" of snow. The Southe East corner of the state got it MUCH worse....

We got hit pretty bad in Edmond (suburb on north side of OKC), we just got power back on last night. We were out since Sunday night. Tuesday we got a generator, I had been planning to get one for a while and this was the final kick in the pants I needed. I need to put in a transfer switch ultimately, but I backfeed it thru my welder outlet. I did pull my main disconnect, which lifts both hots, and then I lifted the neutral too. I wanted to make sure that the line workers did not get even the stray voltage that might have been on the neutral. All and all it worked well, ran our furnace, and well pump, but the computer was not happy, but that is okay. The tree's are really messed up, but my parent house was worse, they are about 15 miles east of us (not to far from the round red barn on route 66), I went over there and cleared their drive. My dad is 76 and finnaly let me come out and help, it was just to much for him. Next time I will just go out and help and not ask, my mom was so happy to see me. There still is a ton of people with out power thu.
Stay worm, Dave

Lots of trucks from lots of places!

Other than a few towns that will not have everyone back up until about Christmas, things are looking a lot better now. Less than 80k still without power in the Tulsa area.

Those few towns that my not be up totally until Christmas apparently did not do much tree trimming the last few years, and according to relatives there are places where half the poles are down in their area. Lots of guests in our house this weekend and maybe beyond!

The wife and I here got hit pretty hard. Been 6 days without power and water. I'm in a small lake town north of Tulsa called Skiatook.

We have quite a few people from Skiatook actually in our house right now since they have no power at home.
