Who\'s to blame:

Let's see if I understand how America works lately:

If a woman burns her thighs on the hot coffee she was holding in her lap while driving, she blames the restaurant.

If your teen-age son kills himself, you blame the rock 'n' roll music or musician he liked.

If you smoke three packs a day for 40 years and die of lung cancer, your family blames the tobacco company.

If your daughter gets pregnant by the football captain you blame the school for poor sex education.

If your neighbor crashes into a tree while driving home drunk, you blame the bartender.

If your cousin gets AIDS because the needle he used to shoot up with heroin was dirty, you blame the
government for not providing clean ones.

If your grandchildren are brats without manners, you blame television.

If your friend is shot by a deranged madman, you blame the gun manufacturer.

And if a crazed person breaks into the cockpit and tries to kill the pilots at 35,000 feet, and the passengers
kill him instead, the mother of the deceased blames the airline.

I must have lived too long to understand the world as it is anymore. So if I die while my old, wrinkled a-- is parked in front of this computer, I want you to blame Bill Gates, OK?

Re: Who\'s to blame:

Pretty sad isn't it Steve that all of what you said is really true!! There is hardly anything such as responsibility for self anymore.

Re: Who\'s to blame:

Steve,

I think you basically got it right. Did you notice how all of the people who are to blame have the deepest pockets? Blame is not placed by right and wrong anymore, but how much you can afford to pay for someone else's mistake.

Have you read the disclaimers on just about any new product lately? If you buy a new skillsaw, you'll get a booklet with 15 pages of warnings about safety and 2 pages of actual "how to use it" instruction. It's the same with everything else. I heard about one bicycle manufacturer that was planning a warning about riding into trees because somebody's teenage kid got a broken neck doing it and there was no printed warning.

It seems to me the manufacturer's are setting themselves up for some of this, because the warnings are so extreme that people are scared to use the stuff before they even start. The warnings are also so standard that a lot of people don't even read them anymore figuring they read it on the last thing they bought.

PS, I really miss that hot coffee. It was the best for thawing frozen windshild washers and door locks! /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Re: Who\'s to blame:

the best one that I've seen so far is blaming a stern husband and post-partum depression for murdering 5 children .... isn't NOW wonderful?
Talk about the bottom of the slippery slope.
And I have to agree with Kevin (not just because we're fellow Albertans) that Bill Gates IS to blame for everything that goes wrong. It's obvious! I especially blame him for making my life a living he** on earth with this miserable excuse for a browser that I have to endure all day long!

too bad that common sense ain't

I agree 100% and to make the whole thing worst, the legal system, and the news media agrees with them.

[[[she blames the restaurant/you blame the rock 'n' roll music or musician he liked/your family blames the tobacco company/you blame the school for poor sex education/you blame the bartender/...government/...television/...gun manufacturer/...airline, etc.]]]

Yep! And you do all this "blaming" at the instigation of; with the encouragement of; to the profit of, ...LAWYERS!

Guess who I blame?? /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Am I being too subtle? My most insincere apologies to the attorneys' apologists. (Any mention of this litigation-situation is a "red-flag" to THIS bull!) /w3tcompact/icons/mad.gif
