Why Can't Ford Make a Tailgate Emblem That Lasts?

It mystifies me that Ford, who has been manufacturing vehicles for 100 years, can't seem to produce a version of their iconic Ford Oval emblem for their vehicles that lasts more than a few years. I mean, how hard could it be, given the universe of materials available today. I think they could invest an extra 3 bucks per vehicle to prevent this from happening to trucks that are still worth north of 30 grand.

They made a good one for the Model A's. Wasn't it porcelain on chromed brass or stainless steel?

Remove the badge, sand and fill the recess, prime, paint the tailgate, and then if you still want it to say Ford...paint the logo on and clearcoat.

P.S. there is a good joke to be had here about the only part of a Ford pickup that runs, is the badge

Maybe it's a security feature. When I had a Mustang GT, I had to replace the 5.0 emblems a couple of times. Apparently the local boys in the 'hood liked to put them on chains for necklaces. I've also had to replace the Ram emblems from a couple of my truck wheels, apparently for the same reason.

I have an 2008 F150 and the tailgate emblem is doing exactly the same thing. I think the front emblem is too.

Ford knows what's wrong, they've circled the problem . I've got a 2010 Ranger, same deal...................Mike
