So I'm doing the TBN thing and up pops an ad for a piece of equipment I could use ... MAN I GOTTA DO THIS ... click on the ad and damned if I spend 10 minutes looking for that particular item and when I do find it NO PRICE!!!

Whats wrong with clicking the ad for a certain Item and Bang there that item is with the Price?

I agree with you. I assume they want you to contact them so they can sink their claws into you further.

I agree too. Very frustrating. However, I think the business reason for it is at least sometimes that the manufacturer, who has the fancy website displaying the product, wants you to buy from a dealer. They allow the dealer to set the price or at least determine what sort of discount to give. Another reason is if the manufacturer knows that others can undercut them on price and they are trying to get you to pay extra for what they hope to show you is extra quality.

I think the tractor, truck, boat and car ads without a price is ridiculous, most people I know just blow past those ads. I never bother to check them out if I don't see a price listed, I mean what is there to compare?

Your question is really your answer. Bigger dollar items aren't like retail items where a price tag is placed and sold at the checkout stand. The price to the retailer is one thing.........the price to the consumer buyer is another. The end-seller has to determine what they can deal a product for considering the price they paid and the market at the time.

No prices? Hit 'em up and tell them what you want to pay. They'll respond in kind. One dealer may be able to buy, and sell, with wider margins than another.

It's all good......

Buyer beware!
Psychology at play.

If they posted the price, you might rightly say to yourself "I can't afford that", do the responsible thing and move on.

Without the price, some will think "I can't hardly live without that". Those are the people the ad targets. Throw in 0% financing to muddy your financial responsibility response a bit further and you are ankle deep in the quicksand.

It works; that's why they do it.

There are 2 kinds of buyers, price shoppers and quality/feature/service types.
If vendor quotes low-ball pricing to get you in the door then he is committed to sell to everyone at that price.
He has to decide volume vs high margin.
It stands to reason that a high volume low margin dealer can't offer same after market service as the low volume high margin dealer.

With tractors you should see the difference in free delivery, loaners, on site warranty and service etc. as well as the quality of personnel.

Otherwise said, You can't have it all!

In this case, that caused me to start the thread it was the retailer ... I just think if your advertising a product here on TBN it should be priced.

I understand large ticket items have different features and options ... just saying.

It all kind of goes back to my Grandfather. Great man, and just as good a farmer. He told me,"If you have to ask, you can't afford it!" Some where in there, is allot of truth.

That's after you've lost connection on your wonderful cell phone twice attempting to contact them. Then finally a recording answers and after you've pushed 2 for English, 3 for sales and 4 for service you loose connection again. OH BOY. Do we do it again? I don't think so Tim because they didn't say where this item is located either, so we don't know if we can pick it up without driving 1,800 miles.

And we didn't even get to the front desk where the secretary needs to page Jim Bob that's out somewhere and we're put on hold for several minutes. No elevator music this time so maybe we lost connection again. Shrug.

Possibly e-mail is the better option if the advertiser will answer in a timely manner. At least there is a record of what was discussed and when.
