JD2320 w/R4 $21,100 w/7.16%off
All of my JD implements require bushing adapters to use on the Imatch?

I've got the JD2320, which I think is category one. My rake (JD? Frontier?), trailer receiver and ballast box require bushing adapters to fit the Imatch? Why is this?

I've considered buying the Speeco cat 1 version but I don't want to spend $200 and wind up with the same thing as I have now.

Even the Speedco unit requires the bushings...I think the HF version does not though.

Why did JD design it this way? Not sure-but I know I would not be without mine! The extra $30 or so to add bushings to each implement is a bargain to me for the convenience of using the I-Match.

I think it is easier to step up to Cat 2 than for to step down to Cat 1. The iMatch is built to work with "anything"--read--bigger machines and we are taking advantage of it's functionality by using the bushings??

Agreed on the not living without it...
My Dad has the HF one and he uses Cat1->Cat2 bushings on it You could probably get away with no bushings, but the Cat2 bushings seem just right for it....
If you got a chop saw...you can easily make your own bushings for cheaper....I bought 2' of Steel tubing which works perfectly for the Cat1->Cat3 Lower Links.

If you order part number 14116000 from SpeeCo (Called the E-Hitch) you don't need the bushings. It's a Cat I that deviates from the ASABE spec on lower hook size. PM me if you can't find someone who will order you one.

They designed it that way to comply with the ASABE standard governing quick hitches. Has nothing to do with making them Cat II size on bottom, making more money, making it a pain...just following the industry standard.

IMatch is simply Deere's trademarked way of saying it complies with the ASABE Cat I standard.

I e-mailed speeco and asked them if I could do without bushings if I used their e-hitch. They actually responded and this is a quote:

Thank you for your inquiry.
That is not actually true.
All of our Quick Hitches are strictly manufactured to the American
Society of Agricultural Engineers (ASAE) standards and will fit each
category implement that is also manufactured to these standards.
Unfortunately, not all implement manufacturers hold tightly to the ASAE
standards.

The E-Hitch is a smaller, lighter weight Quick Hitch built to the ASAE
standards just like the John Deere Quick Hitch and in turn may require
the bushings if the implement(s) you are wanting to use do not meet
these standards. An important note to remember is that you only attach
the bushings to each implement (and they are pinned onto the implement)
if needed. The bushing is not something you would slide off of one
implement and slide them onto the next implement when you change your
attachment. You would put the bushings on each attachment the first
time you use that attachment with your Quick Hitch and from that time
on, you simply connect and disconnect each implement as needed.

I hope this information is of help to you. Please let me know if you
have any further questions.
