I stopped by a local Kubota dealer today to check out a GrandL. After I discussed what I would be doing with the tractor and what I was looking for, he directed me towards a MX5200. I honestly had no intention of even looking at a MX much less driving one. He handed me the key and told me to take it for a spin.
WOW is all I have to say. The machine really surprised me a LOT. Smooth as a baby's behind. The engine was responsive and the transmission was smooth. Strong tractor. The loader was also very responsive. I could not believe how much I liked that tractor. It had a nice wide stance and the size of the tractor just felt right. I actually didn't even test drive the GrandL. Shoot, the tractor even smelled good while it was running LOL. I have always been a 12 x 12 gear person and was hesitant at even looking at a HST machine with a treadle peddle (even the GrandL). Never drove one. This machine has opened my eyes up to what I might have missed out on had I not been willing to look at a HST machine and test drive it. When I finally decide to upgrade from my current tractor a MX5800 might be in my near future (it is also less expensive than all the other tractors I have been looking at). To all those that are tractor shopping, step outside the box and be willing to maybe look at something you never had any intention to look at before. I have tested many different color tractors recently and in my eyes this machine seems to be meeting all my needs minus possibly getting a cab.
Last thing, any current owners of a MX5200 or MX5800 that have some hours on the machine; what are your likes/dislikes with these tractors?
