I need to adjust the spacing on my wheels for clearance for my new ice pick chains on my L4330.

It looks like I need to just jack up the tractor and swap the left side rim with the right side rim and I am done.

Is it that simple as just unbolting the hoops and swapping them?

I am guessing it will take a few hours but the chains are just slightly rubbing the fenders and that is no good.

Any advice? Can anyone show close-up pictures of their L series with the wheels in their widest setting?

Thanks

Does yours have the detachable center like this?

Yes it does. I am just finishing up.

It took me a few hours and a few creative solutions to lift up the tire after it fell over.

I ended up just swapping the right and left wheels and gained about 3-4". Now the tractor will be better in the woods and the chains won't rub anymore.

Any idea of the weight of a rim, tire, and chains, size 17.5x24? I know the aquiline chains are 150 each. The tire fell over and I couldn't even move it an inch to get it upright. I ended up using a come-along attached to the ceiling joists.

My manual shows the different ways to flip the rims and place them on the centers for varying widths. I bought mine used and had my dealer extend mine out as I did enough of that when farming. We have another tractor with a FEL to use if we ever need to do anything with them and it sure makes it easier and safer. My brother also has an engine hoist if needed.

I don't have any idea what they weigh other than they are HEAVY.

When I did that same on filled 5030 tires I was very conscious that rolling upright and balanced involved no real weight, but every inch off-balance side to side seemed to increase in logarithmic fashion.

I jacked up the back end with the BH; used 6x6 PT blocks to assist keep stable, carefully rolled each tire to the rear, reversed direction, and then rolled forward to the other side.

Tedious and cautious.

That's the way I did it when I was a LOT younger, but even then preferred a helper.
