Width of 3520 with larger R4\'s

Does anyone know outside width of a 3520 with the larger R4 tires?

I'm trying do decide if a 66" rototiller will cover my tracks. The 3520 is on order and still 2 weeks away.

Thanks.

Re: Width of 3520 with larger R4\'s

We have a 4120 with R4 tires. The 4120 is larger than your tractor...and we use a 55" tiller. If I had went with the next larger tiller it would cover all my tracks. As it is right now, I shift the tiller all the way to the right so the tire on the right is covered and I till accordingly. I might end up with 2 or maybe 3 inches of tire track from the left tire. I think your tracks would be covered with that size tractor and tiller.

Interested in your decision to go with the larger R4 tires.

Care to say how you chose the larger over the smaller, which meant 4 ply rather than 6 ply?

I'm looking at the 3520 now, and was thinking the 6ply tire, at the moment.

Thanks

Re: Width of 3520 with larger R4\'s

I'm not sure if I made the right choice or not, but I chose the larger for a few of reasons.

1. Parts of my property can get swampy and soft in the spring and I figured the extra flotation of larger tires couldn't hurt.

2. The larger front's are rated at higher carrying capacity, 1740 vs 1450. This couldn't hurt for loader work. The larger rear tires are actually rated lower (3130 vs 4170) than the standard R4s, but still quite good and higher than I'll ever be carrying w/ the tractor.

3. Just to be different and the look of the tractor (ok - i'm a little vain). I just kind of thought the standard tires looked to small on the tractor. I may be strange, but I really like the look of the 4x20 series where the R4's almost complete fill the rear wheel wells.

I may be a mistake in the long run going with 4 ply and not 6 ply on rears -- but live and learn.

Re: Width of 3520 with larger R4\'s

make sure you stay in touch with your dealer. My 3720 with large R4's was suppose to arrive on 4/6. It still has not left the factory. My dealer is telling me that JD is haveing supply problems with the large R4's. He is telling me that JD is supposed to get a shipment this week. I will believe it when I see it. I ordered this tractor in the first week of March. I ordered a 448 backhoe 2 weeks later. The hoe and Fel are at the dealership waiting for the tractor.
I think Kennedydiesel got the first and last Large r4 3720. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

If you want to play in the mud, clearance i.e. more room around the tire is a very good thing. You need to let the tread do what it was designed to do, clear itself. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
