Wife Wants a Classic Mustang

One of the biggest concerns on the old mustangs is the location of the fuel tank.Between the frame rails;not a good spot in case of a rear collision.Most will replace with a fuel cell.I also would recommend a newer model.

I would never sell my 1966 GT fastback 289 hi-po 4 speed for a newer model. Picture at left, but old cars are not for everyone.

I see mucho work there.

I guess it depends on your budget and whether you can do most of your own work on cars. I have two at this time, a 72 Chevelle Conv. 402 (396) auto and a 79 Corvette. They take time and money but I do all my own work. You can usually get a nice driver quality car with no or little rust at a reasonable price. Fully restored showroom cars bring a premium which I'm not into. I prefer to drive mine in summer to local area car cruises and not trailer them to shows.

Thanks, but its not my thread. Wouldn't want to hi jack. All I can say is the car was a basket case When I bought it. Took me about 8 months, over 1000 hours, and $$$ to get it in that condition and its still not completely done. Just done enough to win some trophy's at the local cruises.

Tell you guys something...when I was a teenager I dreamed of the day I could have the money, the time, and the space to fix up an old car or two...but I never had any of those things until about ten years ago. And then I decided I didn't really want an old car after all....:laughing:
