Been looking for a brush grapple and noticed Wildkat had a set of adjustable 48" pallet forks with a built in grapple for $1000. I don't have a set of forks yet and was wondering if this setup would be a good compromise or would I still not regret spending the extra $600 and get a set of forks and a lighter weight brush root grapple. I guess a third option would be to get the grapple forks now and save up to buy the grapple later. Thanks.

That looks like a heavy duty assembly, they list the weight as 420 lbs.

It depends on what you will be picking up. Looks to me that the grapple would be in the way of big items on the forks.

Grapple forks don't work well with short pieces of brush.

When you have a brush grapple, you probably wouldn't need a grapple fork.

and I personally don't think forks are very effective at moving brush.

Looks like it could be a 2 for 1 attachment. I can't tell if the forks are adjustable side to side for various pallet sizes. If it adjusts it could be a good purchase.

The one that I am looking at are not the non adjustable set on there website, found these adjustable pallet forks with a grapple on there ebay site. I agree that they wouldn't be the best at picking up small brush like a true brush grapple but for logs and longer limbs it would work and still have the pallet forks to move items.

You can do more with adjustable forks. I see no advantage to fixed forks.

The fact that the set I looked at were adjustable is what got me interested in them.

I like the adjustable forks too. They are handy for different sized pallet but I prefer 42x48 pallets.

That is some $18xx or so and WEIGHS something.
Different price bracket, different weight bracket too.
Not that my Wicked Wildkat's light weight is key to what I have moved with it, but FEL capacity is always finite (tractor stability too) and the Wildkat didn't lighten my wallet by enough to tip me over either (-:

How much does it weigh?

Ill echo that query. The Wildcat grapple arm and hydraulic push points look weak for use other than brush. Could be perfect for the 30/40 HP range tho.

I think a pallet fork grapple might do okay at loading a pile of brush but it won't be any good for going along and cleaning it up.
