I've been working on some wildlife cover lately. This area, about 1-1/2 acres, used to be heavy cover next to a pond. A Whitetail doe had fawned there for years. But it was getting to may big trees, making it too open for her. I'm clearing most of the bigger trees, making two brush piles & will let it grow back up to thick under brush. I'm only killing the Honey Locust stumps, the others will be let grow back up! The log pile is Shagbark Hickory, the farm renter's son sells it to meat smokers. ~~ grnspot110

Thanks for the photos. It's hard to tell, but a few of the logs look like wild (black) cherry. Am I right?

Thanks, the log pile is all Hickory. I'm leaving some scattered Oak, Ash & Hickory, along with a few Walnuts.

Piles will give cover to rabbits & turkeys. It won't take long for this to grow back up to wild raspberries, buckbrush, & sprouts, supplying cover for whatever wildlife wants to use it. ~~ grnspot110
