- Yanmar 2002D
Hi,
I'm new to this on-line community and have just purchased my first riding tractor. I'm a small farmer with 1-2 acres of intensively planted vegetables, a few acres of pasture (for a couple horses and cows), and also raise some pastured hogs for meat sales. I've used a BCS walking tractor in the past, but it was about time to upgrade! I live in Alaska where we don't have a whole lot of choice in implements and everything is way over-priced. I just bought a 24HP 4WD Yanmar 2002D with a 60-inch bucket. I had access to a John Deere 550 50" tiller that was left outdoors for several years on some land we bought North of Fairbanks. It's got some rust for sure, but looks otherwise intact. So can my Yanmar handle the JD 550? And what should I do about re-conditioning the tiller? What kind of maintenance is it likely to need after several years of neglect?
Thanks so much, this site was a huge help in doing research when I was looking to buy the tractor!
