Will cut Bamboo Sprout in my garden?

Ok heres my question. I have just cut a few bamboo stakes for my garden, fresh cuts on green bamboo. It occurred to me about halfway through the 10 or so i cut that this stuff might sprout, so will it? As a forester i know this stuff is horrible and will grow anywhere, but will it sprout from a cut stem just pushed into the ground. Thinking back now i should have cut these months ago and let them dry before i used them. So should i pull up the 4 or so i just put in?

I don't know, but the stuff is sure awful...We have tons of it...:confused2:

I don't think it will sprout since it needs a rhizome in the ground. Mature canes won't sprout without the a rhizome.

If you plant it, it will never leave. Its difficult to get rid of.

I did not know if it could sprout from a bud in one of the little branches or not, like other plants like roses will do if you cut a shoot. I definitly dont have a rhizome.

Im not planting it either.

Oh man if it's American bamboo, that stuff is so invasive, I've seen it push up 4" thick asphalt and sprout thru it. I had a shop for awhile in an industrial area near the train tracks, I got the place cheap cause it was a dump, the bamboo took over a large part of the property, I had it cut back and controlled pretty good with some type of poison. I sold the place 8 years ago and I see it's taking over the property again. the new owner was using a dozer on it!!

We have a "japanese" bamboo here, terrible stuff.
local DEC doesn't even have a good solution, other
than injecting the rhizome with roundup while the plant
is flowering late summer.

if i cut or pull a bunch, it's interesting to put into
a fire pit! sounds like big popcorn as the cells
pop.

SO am i safe you think or should i pull the bamboo shoots out of the ground?

Leave 'em in the ground. Without the rhizome, they are just fishin' poles.

Thanks for the advice, i was thinking i was safe but i did not want to take a chance and get this stuff established in my yard where i have none.
