I have a 2001 Rance Renegade all aluminum enclosed trailer. It has a gvw of 12k. 24 foot long drive in drive out. Trailer is very well built. I am thinking of repurposing it and put my tractor in it but unsure if my gate can hold it. Tractor should be in the 5500 -6000 range with attachment. I am thinking it will not hold and do not want to bend the door. I do not know how it is made as I have not taken it apart. Sure would be nice to take my rops down and haul to the job enclosed. I have emailed the manufacturer but do not expect a real answer.

Are your rear tires filled on your tractor? What's the distance from the top of the ramp to the ground when the door is down? Measure that against the distance between your front and back wheels. If you will have only one set wheels on the ramp at a time, you could try it with maybe laying a set of atv type ramps on top of your door ramp. If your rears are filled, or you will have both front and rear tires on the ramp at the same time, then I wouldn't try it.

I frequently put B body mopars in my enclosed trailer, and with a big block engine, we were looking at 4200 lbs, with 60-70% of that weight being over the front end. My door didn't bend, but mine wasn't aluminum either.

Both tires would be on the ramp. Rears are filled and figured into the weight.

Lay 8 ft ramps or what ever is needed for the ramps length to be on the door after its lowered? Spread the load out so not so much in the middle of the aluminum door when its laid down?

Maybe rough cut lumber I was thinking?

I wonder if I put two 2x6 together to make a 4 by 6 and put them on a block on the inside trailer end if I would almost never touch the ramp

It could be disastrous to try. My trailer says that the gate will hold 1,000 lbs evenly distributed. That second part is important! See what the cost of failure (a new door) would be before you go further. And call the manufacturer (as opposed to emailing) and see if you can get a better answer. Overlay ramps may be your solution.

Absent manufacturer spec, only way to be sure is try. I loaded my previous 4000lb tractor on a standard ladscape trailer (full width gate made of angle iron and mesh) by using 4x4 blocks under the ramp. The trailer had to be stabilized with scissor jacks to keep the blocks from shifting, and it was a royal pain.

The price of a gate would be major. I will call the manufacturer monday but they have been bought out so probably getting no where

Screamin: would it be possible to post pictures of your gate (door) ?
