Hi all, new to the forums here. I learned a lot from just reading from this forum, but I still haven't found what I needed, hopefully you guys can help me narrow down on what tractor is best for me.

I run an 80 acre persimmon / orchard field. Things that the tractor must be able to do is:

-Discing (I have a 9.5 foot disc, 24 blades)
-Foliage spraying
-Able to use my shredder (~2inch max diameter)
-Weed Spraying with 3-pt hitch sprayer (150 gallon)
-Mowing 10 ft wide, 3 PT mower.

The tractor I'm looking for has to be narrow (but not as narrow as vineyard tractors), low profile, and open cab. Due to my tree spacing, at times I will almost be hugging the trees while doing work, so I want to minimize the amount of damage I do to the trees.

I have previously used a Kubuta 9540HDL and John Deere 5500n. Out of those two, the size for the JD 5500n was perfect. The Kubota was too wide and too tall, it kept on hitting branches. While the 5500n, was narrower and little bit lower that I was able to clear branches better.

I'm not too familiar with CASE IH Tractors, but my dealer has a 2008 JX1095N with 800 hours for about $21k. At this price, I thought it was a pretty good deal for the HP i am getting out of it. But I am concerned that it might not be able to do the job I need it to do. I do know that this is the same model as the TNF series by New Holland.

How good are these tractors? I've noticed that it is much smaller than the John Deere 5500N, much lower and slightly more narrow. Since it's lower, will it have trouble lifting 3 PT implements while clearing the ground? Also the tires are much smaller than what I normally am used to using, will this be of any concern regarding traction and etc?

Also, is parts for this particular model expensive?

Any inputs is appreciated, thanks!

What problems have you had? Are they major/minor problems?

fuel system, pto clutch and oil leaks on the rear axles.as for operation i do not like the jx hand clutch for the pto.i would rather have a old 5500 or a kubota.

The JX series with the problems described here is the std JX, made in Turkey, and CNH has changed those items for better reliability. The JXN is made in Italy and is nothing like the standard JX. You are correct in that it is like the New Holland TNF, but it is actually narrower than the F version but wider than the V version. In Europe, NH offers 3 widths of the TN series, but in NA they market the fruit and vineyard widths and Case IH markets the middle width unit as the JXN. From what you describe, the tractor should do what you need and be fine. Worst issue with the JXN is wiring issues, and most of those are bad or corroded grounds.

the jx's i was referring too were made in turkey.i know nothing about any made in italy.why should he take a chance on the newer ones when the turkey jx's were so unreliable.

Because they aren't even close to the same. Different transmissions, different engine families, different hydraulics, different axles and finals, different pto systems. Did your dealer do all the upgrades or PIP's on yours? The newer Turkish built units are much more reliable/dependable than the older units. The Yesi built N series have very few issues, unlike the early Ankera builds you experienced.

dfletcher on a jx 95 ,what will cause the engine to race for several minutes after the fuel is cut off?by race i mean bury the rpm gauge.when restarted it will barely run .missing badly.

My best guess would be injection pump issue, but it may be as simple as it is sucking air into the injection pump. Is this intermittent, or each start/stop cycle? Does the skip clear after a couple minutes of running? When the fuel is shut off by the solenoid, a vacuum is created, which cuts the fuel off. If there is an air leak then the fuel supply full racks, which explains the run away rpm. On restart there is now air in the system which explains the hard start and skipping.

That is the good scenario. Other scenario involves more severe pump issues and possible replacement. Hopefully it is an air leak
